yep <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
i don't think blue ray would make much difference on my crappy tv!!! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
Blu-ray is funky looking and somewhat disorientating played on a full HD TV.

I usually watch one once a month at my parents place.
It seems still true you do not own a functioning TV set of any description!

And why is a movie stored on a Blue Ray disk looking different to a movie stored on a DVD?

Is not Blue Ray a method of storing more bits and bytes onto a platter of the same size as a DVD platter?

If it looks different then someone must mess with the bits and bytes!
Yeah, still without a traditional TV, Peter. I watch a few shows via the Internet, nice to be commercial free.

The more information that a Blu-ray disc stores is used to provide images of higher resolution (more detail).

From wiki:

Quote:The name Blu-ray Disc derives from the blue-violet laser used to read the disc. While a standard DVD uses a 650 nanometer red laser, Blu-ray uses a shorter wavelength, a 405 nm blue-violet laser, and allows for almost ten times more data storage than a DVD.

So the actual composition of the physical disc appears to be the same for Blu-ray and DVD. The difference is in the fact that the laser is skinner and coincidently, more skinny people fit in an arc than chubby folks.
Well more skinny people fit in a given space! Perhaps we will all need to be skinny in the future to fit into the projected Melbourne of 2035?
HA ...nice‼
But then again high res rubbish is still rubbish.
Indeed.
What's the next big thing after Blu Ray, it must already be in the pipeline?
Probably dual layer will become multi layer ...i don't really know.
dvd, blu, don't tell anyone, but a movie is still just a movie <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

i just buy the blu cos they cost the same as a dvd at launch <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
I don't know how dual layer works, Peter.
Are not some DVD movies on dual layer system?

I don't know if all burners/players will process them?
I thought all were these days and all current players process them fine.
Morning everyone!!! Hope everyone has a great day.
i'm fine too, thankyou for asking <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

and i skipped a cheeseburger the other day <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

had 2 brumbys chilli twists while we were out and about <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

and i really am not a walking blimp <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':officechair:' />
...

And I am just back from my walk to friendly McDs where I had the usual two coffees and toasted raison bread for morning tea!

...

Iblis, the weather is perfect for your daily runs in the park. Go for it!

Are you OK?

No little injuries?

...
Two coffees, Peter!? Thats quite the caffeine kick for morning tea. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I went for a run yesterday and will again tomorrow, probably; i'm moving to Melbourne tomorrow too so i'm not 100% sure, although; i want to run.

My body is fairly injury free, especially since i bought compression shorts, Lycra type shorts─really helps to run in the frustrating cold climate.

Did you Melbournians get the mist this morning, couldn't see past 100 metres (probably less) at about 7:30 am here in Geelong.
no mist here <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> must be a geelong thing hahaha

Happy friday everyone!

Sounds fun Peter! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
YAY‼ I'm all moved in.
Seems you have your priorities right!

Walk in and connect!

You must have a wireless connection of some type?

Probably the new ubeaut IPod thingo!
Na, Bigpond cable at my parents home and as simple as switching across an single cable from one computer to the other, my mums PC is now in the cupboard ...i've sequestered her office/ironing room (use to be mine anyway, 'cept the ironing part).

Wireless would be good though, with an iPad or Laptop ...my sister has WiFi next door so leeching would've been an option.
Oh dear what would you do without mum?
Pay the extra $5 a week in rent.

...and it wasn't the rent increase amount that moved me, i just couldn't abide the stand-over tactics the agent instigated. Twice they asked me to renew the rental lease and twice the rent was increased when i refused. On the second occasion i had actually asked the agent, "so if i sign a new lease you won't increase my rent?" the response was "yes". No consideration was taken into the fact that i'd been a great tenant by paying rent on time and keeping the apartment spotless.
a world ruled by cats would be a damn sight better than the one currently run by a bunch of clueless monkeys <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

then there's me, the cat Master <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
