You seem well adjusted and thus will enjoy the next part of your life.

There are others on this site interested in photography.

Oh are there reall bands out there with names like "Death Cab for Cutie"! Yikes!
Thanks Peter, i feel like i am handling it all fairly well which is a relief... still hard at times as you'd expect but i've been cleaning out my mothers place for the past week so i can fit my stuff in which has kept me distracted.

ARE THERE!? Awesome - good to know!

Yup, there SURE are ... they're an awesome band, seen em live a couple times - you could check em out on myspace.com/deathcabforcutie =D

I did look at one of the sites for "Death Cab For Cuties".

They seemed to be the standard 4 sullen guys, but I liked the song I listened to.

I seemed to be able to understand some of the words.

I'm impressed!

Oh is your mother still at home or are you taking over her place?

Are you working? You know, so as you keep occupied and your mind on other things?

Yah they're very good indeed =) I love their lyrics, he plays on words a lot..... I also recommend Elbow - very cool - amazing vocals! Great Expectations is one of my faves of theirs at the moment. .... can i ask how old you are Peter or is that too invasive?

Mums still here, i moved back home when my fiance and i broke up. I am working at my ex's video store, but am looking for some new work - not having any luck though <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':gathering:' /> Yah, keeping occupied means i don't think too much about the break up .... my mums been a champ, she's letting me have the spare bedrooms, one to sleep in and one to set up as an entertainment room type thing w/my tv computer and gaming consoles... she's such a gem!

There are a few of usses here that like to go to Gyms and stuff.

Like Iblis and he is much closer to your age. (Iblis hope you don't mind me saying that.)

Not at all, Peter.

I no longer frequent a Fitness Centre... prefer the outdoor elements during runs and my hand held free weights are enough for resistance training (plus sit-ups and push-ups).

Ran my first 10km loop along Barwon River this morning and barely made the distance... I'm a gluten for punishment and can't wait until next Friday when I plan to run the distance again, hopefully─pulled a fairly piss poor 5:14 pace IIRC.

10km on a treadmill does not in any way what so ever equate to 10km on a windy and undulating outdoor park track─at least the weather was really nice.

Yeah I did not do any stair running or walking lately! Though I did go on the tread mill in the gym and watch days of our lives! It is good to keep up with the soaps that never end! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':gathering:' />

Age is no secret.

I'm closer to 72 than to 71!

Unfortunately the names of the musicians you quote are never played on my radio.

So I will take your word for the fact that they are the best of the moment! Why not indeed!

So far I have not heard anyone write better "modern" music/lyrics than Neil Diamond. Success over a great length of time with unique songs.

And no one has performed better than Elvis at his peak. Pity about the booze and drugs!

What about "The Chairman of the Board" Frank Sinatra? He never wrote a song in his life. But is unsurpassed in his field.

That American surly twit Harry Conman Junior is a pale feeble imitation.

Whoops I have just upset all the Americans and half of everyone else! Sorry!

OK so you like photography what about keeping fit?

There are a few of usses here that like to go to Gyms and stuff.

Like Iblis and he is much closer to your age. (Iblis hope you don't mind me saying that.)

Also chat to Gymbunnie she is a Gym nut as well.

Must be others for sure.

Yeah I remember that Glen (the Boss) promised he would do stair running every day!

Ha! I think he bombed on day two?

I never got into them, but i kinda dig Michael Bulble - Harry C.J never cut it in my opinion... i like him even less after all the Hey Hey garb =S

Yah i love photography.... i'm not into working out, but i was a year or so ago - i was very overweight and got myself a gym membership and worked my backside off untill i'd dropped two sizes.... then i stopped and maintained for about 9 months and recently i've gotten back into being carefull about size portions and have lost a further 7kgs this month! I have lost a total of 25kgs over the past 2 years. I prefer to walk for the pleasure of taking photography or simply for the beauty of nature - or if i'm feeling a little sluggish or fat then i'll go for a very quick jog and/or walk. I'm more of a Yoga/Pilates gal - but just at home.

WOW nice 1! i could never run OR WALK for that long ... i've never been that fit... always easily out of breath - always have been. I gotta say i did like the treadmill, but doubt i'd keep at it unless it was weight loss.

Sounds awesome what you're doing Peter, keep up the good work!

I was a quite a bit over weight myself before starting on a fitness craze.

Professionally, I'm a part-time coder (computer programmer)─today, I did something that I've been wanting to do for a long time... bought a few Geek T-shirts, three to be exact, from the web comic XKCD... will be a long few weeks wait for shipping from the US.

I just moved to Geelong a little over a year ago (from Melbourne Aug last year) and then soon discovered the Theatre with absolutely no experience, starting off with a bit part in Dracula followed by an ensemble role in a musical and currently in the chorus of a pantomime both musical and pantomime staged at GPAC (Geelong Performing Arts Centre). Dracula was staged at a smaller Theatre. All great experiences that I hope to continue at an amateur level.

I would have liked to be part of Monty Python's Spam-a-lot, a musical that will begin rehearsals in Feb next year (also to be staged at GPAC) but I am also hoping to have moved overseas by then (beginning the delicate process in a couple of weeks, a process that I do not want to get into the details of, a process that will take a few months─always up for bigger challenges).

I like to listen to Radio National, a lot and watch a number of online videos on talks regarding new ideas and ideas of old. I really enjoy listening to Philosophical discussions/talks and reading quirky books. The last few books I've read have been (most recently read first) Foucault's Pendulum. by Umberto Eco, The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov and The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, the last two being my current favourites. ...and just started on Catch-22 by Joseph Heller.

Well... that's enough about me.

I watched the movie Catch 22 all those years ago. Never had a clue what Marlon Brando said. Or even why he was in the movie!

I suppose I should fix that by reading the book.

Can I do a legal download of it? Please?

There are probably cheap e-Book versions available for download. Google books doesn't have any full preview options for Catch-22.

Well... I'm not smart (or dedicated) enough to be a Nerd so am resolved to be proud of being a Geek.

I'm supposed to (morally) support a fellow ensemble cast member from Shout! (That's the amateur musical I was in based in the life and times of Johnny O'Keefe) tomorrow night that is performing songs from her début LP (should be interesting because she is classically trained); although, I generally don't frequent live band performances.

Do you have any live band watching plans for the weekend, Kara?... or plans in general?─I highly recommend a day of ride hoping at Luna Park‼

LOL, so long as you're happy with who you are - thats all that counts.

Oh thats wonderful =D

Nar, since i broke up with my partner i no longer have anyone to go with ... i normally only go to concerts nowadays anyways .. my brother used to be in a band which got me out and about a lot 3 or so years ago, got really into the live music scene then. Luna Park, i've not been there in years! Last time i felt like it was a bit of a rip off - but then again, rides are fun and i had fun so i guess it wasnt a rip off. Just relaxing and spending time with my mum this weekend, been working my backside off all week cleaning the house out so now it's downtime ... might go shopping and get some new clothes to help work up my self esteem. lol

u?

Yeah, Luna Park is a bit pricey (IIRC ~$40 for an adult) but still worth the pennies when converted to a good full day of fun, 'cept the long lines at popular rides like the Scenic Railway‼ A good day at Luna Park starts off early with a lunch break on Acland Street in between.

I watched a few ABC sitcoms this morning via iView (on the Internet─my TV has been busted since May) and just finished up with a some major apartment cleaning in lieu of "cancelled to due to rain" rock climbing (I rock climb occasionally, like three times or less a year) at Werribee Gorge.

Going to listen to Radio National followed by some Family Guy episodes and not much else in the evening besides reading and more computer oriented time wasting and pseudo-intellectualist learning.

My Sunday morning will be spent at a working bee for the Pantomime I'm currently in, fun with a paint brush and then off in the evening to a bar to listen to how a classically trained performer converts their art into more of a mainstream genre, if that is even the case─I have absolutely no idea what type of music will be performed.

That's pretty much my weekend (busier than usual).
