Quote:

finished your outrage have you ?

according to the principles of democracy, the proper stuff, not the Starbucks variety the word "majority" appears prominent in the definition

there is also what is known as liberal democracy, but this falls short of that as well due to a limit of choices

Oh I get it democracy that's like the CFMEU right?

Just to take your anger out of it all:

Equating this posters idea about what a democracy is to the "Starbucks variety" is somewhat reminiscent of Ms Clintons "deplorables" statement.

This is yet another of the excellent example of left of centre elitism and the propensity for it to question the values, morals , and intelligence of those who do not share their views.

I disagree with you - so I must be somehow inferior.

Hello - now that smacks of something a tad less than democratic :Cowboy:

I think you need to consider whether your "democratic" claims are more properly "majority" claims.

I guess the only true Majority methodology is the plebiscite a la Brexit.

Funny eh?

We get a plebiscite offer from the government and those democracy loving ALP representatives and Senators reject the opportunity to let the majority have their say.

In this issue we see a very small number of Senators (count them on one hand) effectively block the huge majority of all voters from having their say

"The Turnbull government's proposed plebiscite on same-sex marriage has formally been killed off by the Senate, where it was defeated 29-33 in a late-night vote on Monday, amid a warning the decision would delay marriage equality "for years"."

Yep, you get the picture!!

Quote:THere you go - you are reinforcing my claims of Bias - the only real anti everyone commentator is Mr Bolt - and he most certainly does not work for the ABC - he has the wrong DNA

So you're saying that if Mr Bolt appeared on the ABC the bias claims would be refuted?

Newsflash Aloy, he was on ABC TV for 10 years!!! :notworthy:

And we all heard the same white noise bias claims we're hearing today.

I guess bias is in the eye of the beholder with the broken record Wink

Quote:You just can't get away from the fact that EB [Bill Shorten]was instrumental, by virtue of his union base, in deposing two - count 'me, sitting, democratically elected PM's.

That's the fact.

If the electorate want him as a PM then they will regret their lack of wisdom , so would I!
Presumably you're now disagreeing with that "lack of wisdom" comment?

It's interesting reading the thesaurus take on democracy versus your take on it Tongue

Which one is right?

But Andrew Bolt was on the ABC for 10 years Smile

Democracy applied when voters put the Govt in power in Victoria.

I raised the CFMEU mot unions per se!

As for the rust belt it could be argued that the AFL CIO contributed significantly to their own demise.

Whole industries moved to the southern states to escape their restrictive practices.

I just don't subscribe to your thinking on that at all. It's basically old tired left rhetoric. Your lot made a good job of Cuba , Venezuala, Chile, Albania, Yugoslavia as was, Czechoslovakia, etc didn't they?

Matter of fact what can we say about the Shorten opposition to foreign workers?

Is that the sort of thing you are talking about????

Extremely disgusted!! :angry2:

Hi Peter.

I don't know much about Albo apart from him being more leftist than Bill Shorten.

But, just out of idle curiosity and from your perspective, what are his strong points?

And a good answer from Peter too. I think Ablo's in the box seat.

If Labor wins 2019, great, if not - Ablo's the obvious choice for leader.

ABC 24 today:

two repeats of an earlier clip of Tony Burke berating Minister Dutton for his comments relating to Lebanese imigrants in the Fraser years.

No sign at all of what the minister said in his own words.

Hello that's a bit rich from a" balanced broadcaster"

Why not let us make up our mind about the ministers comments?

Why must we be lectured and harangued by a political opposition hack - three times

Opposition 3 - Minister 0, and no sign of a refereee in the entire game!!!!!

Sky News 1 - Minister 0. That's where the comments originated.

Has Mr Dutton agreed to appear on the ABC to defend his comments?

Have they asked him ?

Are they news reporters or spin doctors?

Do the ABC have access to Sky news?

I had not thought so - but then my sensitivity in that are is not finely tuned.

Noel Pearson explains why he thinks that.

Given the ABC's propensity for bias in other areas which appears driven by smug elitism it's quite unsurprising that a man of his stature might believe it to be so.

Ah the ABC 24 news!!

Tag team of Cassidy and Trioli back to their normal high quality

Excellent!!

Not one positive word about their unfavourite parties. Not one. Hello, nobody is completely bad, no one is completely good.

Trioli's mean mouthed commentary on Australian politics has raised negativity to a new high.

Cassidy can be forgiven for his bias, but a news anchor should make some token attempt at fairness.
