Dreyfus slams 'wasteful' marriage plebiscite

Regardless of the issue, why would a politician call a plebiscite wasteful?

What has he got against the voter having their say - formally - whatever the result?

This claim has been made on several occasions - is there some reason that the folks wanting a change want to avoid the public having their say?

personally I think more plebiscites would be a good thing to overcome the massive inertia provided by the present political process.

Twins with different fathers born in Vietnam, DNA testing shows > http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-03-09/tw...ys/7231560

Twins are tested because of different appearances

Results show twins are bi-paternal

This happens when two eggs are fertilised by two different men

Gay marriage plebiscite divisive"

Says Premier Andrews.

Hmm mm mm a plebiscite is where the citizenry have their say, but Premier Andrews thinks it's a bad idea!

Go figure -is he worried about what the result may be?

Only those supporting gay marriage seem to distrust the citizenry in this matter.

Go figure some more!

They have a right to their opinions - but they do not have the right to prevent others from having theirs and expressing it in a popular vote.

Ah democracy it has so many interpretations - most appear self serving

Oh dear, how sad, NEVER MIND!!!!!

Millions of Australian native animals cheer on the actions of our Border Security folks in protecting them from the effects of US /Irish foot and mouth disease possibly carried by undeclared imported animals.

Clearly Johnny has already contracted this disease - .

Goodness I thought we had a circus to govern Queensland but it looks quite professional compared to the present Victorian set up -

All you lovely Victorians have my sympathy - but it's always nice to know that we are not the worst!

That's an odd one :o

Apparently it was because he refused to release confidential documents.

So the Govt is going to demand the other side do the same thing :p

If this happened in QLD and you've got a hung parliament you might get a new premier every 6 weeks. lol

Victorian state budget 2016: Taxes lift four-year surplus to $9.2b

VICTORIAN coffers are awash with cash as property and payroll taxes help the state government post total Budget surpluses of $9.2 billion over the next four years.

A massive revenue boost will also be helped by the lease of the Port of Melbourne this year, expected to bring in an extra $7 billion.

Treasurer Tim Pallas said relatively high employment rates, which have seen more than three million Victorians in work for the first time, have bolstered payroll tax receipts.

There has also been a bigger than expected GST collection, and the property market has remained strong.

“The state’s finances are in very good shape,” he said.
