"He was in line to claim around $9,600 in prize money before being caught and disqualified.

Officials said they became suspicious because he [Njogu] showed no signs of fatigue after supposedly completing the 42.2 kilometres course.

They discovered that he had run barely one kilometre after emerging from a bunch of onlookers and joining the leading group of runners just outside the stadium."

"WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange should be freed, UN panel says"
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been “arbitrarily detained” by Britain and Sweden since December 2010, and should be freed and compensated, a U.N. human rights panel says.

Heh heh Heh!!!

There must be another paradigm out there in UN land.

The actuality is:

Accused rapist Assange declines to face his accusers and avoids arrest by hiding in a foreign embassy.

On the basis of the UN logic, Adolf H should be resurrected and compensated by those he brought suffering to.

Well you may be able to swallow that Assange line, but it's all pretty much of an ego driven, above the law, concoction.

Regardless of that the UN part judgement is quite laughable, that was the point of my post - not Mr Assange.

It's the old polly speak:    "   Seeking and gaining refugee in a third world country's London Embassy is now to be called Arbitrary Detention and thus worthy of detention.

Given this corruption the next step is to demand compensation from those countries who give refuge to "refugees" because they keep them detained in refugee camps.

Fortunately for wealthy Saudi Arabia they accept no refugees and therefore are above reproach in this regard!

Any Saudi reps on the UN committee?

What has avoidance of a rape charge in Sweden got to do with the UN?

Bob Carr calls for Australia to take in fewer immigrants; says current rates based on flawed economics

Former foreign minister Bob Carr says Australia's "third world-style" population growth rate provides a case for cutting immigration by at least a third.

Speaking in Sydney this morning, Mr Carr said Australia's population growth, due to record net overseas migration, was of significant concern.

<p style="font-size:1.25em;color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;background-color:rgb(249,249,249);">He called for Australia to consider reducing its immigration intake by at least a third, and possibly by up to 50 per cent, saying unrealistic population growth was putting pressure on housing and increasing urban congestion.

<p style="font-size:1.25em;color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;background-color:rgb(249,249,249);">

Death row inmate impregnates herself to avoid execution in Vietnam

Snippets > Nguyen Thi Hue, 42, was sentenced to death in 2014 after being arrested and convicted on drug trafficking offences two years earlier.

> Under Vietnamese law, a pregnant woman, or a mother whose child is less than three years old, cannot be sentenced to death.

> According to reports, Nguyen paid $2300 to a male inmate to help her get pregnant.

The 27 year-old twice put his sperm in a plastic bag with a syringe in a mutually agreed place and Nguyen inseminated herself.

She became pregnant and is expected to give birth in about two months.

Presumably not. Otherwise she might do it again Tongue

The report says the penalty becomes a life sentence.
