Fair enough too.
Maybe "Political Backflips And The Like" can be attributed to politicians having mood swings as well?

Yeppers, as Aloy said it's for cheap political gain.
With their current polling they might have to give everyone $1 million each to win the next election. By then the currency will need to change from $dollars to Abbott$ In other words... Abbott first, dollars last

Its really because we have an opinion polling driven political system and the empty headed folks who want something for nothing have big voices - and twitter accounts.

Selling existing assets to buy new and needed assets is intelligent use of the peoples resources.
Heck I usually sell my old car to buy a new one!  The crime is that interested parties - in the case of power - the Electrical trades Union no doubt do consider that sale of power stations is a crime - but not against the people - just a powerful subset.  I don't criticise the ETU for their stance - but to equate that stance with the broad public interest is a bit of a long bow to draw - methinks.

Just for once in their lives Rank and file ALP members wish they party did not belong to an undemocratic and corrupt party
http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/p...m9dgx.html  "Mr Shorten's promise to slash union sway in parliamentary preselections â to give local party members a 70 per cent, up from 50 per cent, say in preselections â was last week declared "dead in the water" by union chiefs ahead of today's conference."   The backroom boys are well and truly in control - they eliminated the Rudd opposition to their gerrymandering, the knifed him and Gillard.  And guess who was their hatchet man?  Good old Bill!  I don't like his chances much either.

Quote:The backroom boys are well and truly in control Isn't that the case with almost any political party or government? All we see is the puppet for that particular party...  Labor was formed by trade unions and will always be affiliated with them...  I mean you make the above statement as some kind of slur on the Labor party, however is it really any different at the LNP?  JSmithÂ

Labor was formed by a Union Movement that had integrity.
Present day conditions indicate that this property is no longer.  Consider the recent leadership knifings.  cf Sam Destyari comments about senior ALP figures. The present day mob are sailing foursquare against the process started by Paul Keating  releasing Australia from obstacles to progress.  Unless and until the ALP recognises that they have lost their way they are doomed to shrink, by being squeezed between a left moving LNP and a further left Green party.  Evidenced by the campaigning in northern NSW electorates where ALP campaigning resulted in Green success.
