They're another new invention that have only been around for about 15 - 20 years now

I don't know anything about them actually, other than their name. They're way to modern for me, and weren't even around when my daughter was born.

Hmmmm, I haven't hit the pool or the footpath since last Thursday. Not feeling good about it either. Now my fitness kick is gonna have to be a New Year's Revolution - and I mean "Revolution" cos my New Year's Resolutions never last.

I'm wondering.... Pete, how can you miss a gym appointment by "just that much"?? Do they close the doors if you're not there on time? Or did you really miss it by a whole day???? Two hours on the treadmill, rower, step machine and weights, aren't you feeling exhausted? For some reason I'm aching all over and feeling so lethargic, that's why I haven't made it to the pool, and the heat stops me from pounding the pavements. I wonder what excuse I can make up for tomorrow <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Whistle.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Party.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tonguearty:' /> HAPPY NEW YEAR

I don't own a mobile phone (well, not an active one); no offense taken. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

They keep talking on the mobile phone because they think they won't get caught! Simple as that! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Hi Guys,

I didn't get the drift about the mobile phone iblis. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Ahh, you lost the piece of paper, that explains the "missed the gym by just this much" comment."

Not feeling much better today but had to go out to get dry cat food cos the vet's will be closed tomorrow and there's only enough left for tonight. But I also went to the video store and got out some Little Brittain DVD's - that can be my exercise for the day (watching Little Brittain DVD's). Still coughing, still have a sore throat, joints and limbs all still aching but not as much as yesterday. Maybe tomorrow with the cool change I'll get onto something - after all it will be a New Year Revolution for me.

Happy New Year to you all <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Party.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tonguearty:' />

Hi Peter.

I doubt that I picked up a bug at the pool, after all I was pretty much the only one using it. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/officechair.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

Don't go overboard with two 40 minute walks in a day, surely one is enough bearing in mind that you do gym work as well.

Funnily enough though, a lot of my work colleagues came down with the fluey thing on the same day and all with the same symptoms, so my guess is that it was in the air conditioning system and we all got it simultaneously (like legionnaire's disease). All my joints and limbs are still a bit sore and still have a clogged up respiratory system but getting better each day. I'm thinking that tomorrow will be a good start for me. I liked the idea of 2 January, as a start date for my NY Revolution, but I actually spent the whole day in bed.

Hi Peter,

Yes, 2 x 40 minute walks is not as bad as it sounds if you can stop for a decent break at 20 minute intervals.

I'm feeling much better today thank you for asking and am off to the pool for a swim at some time later. Must go and get my nails done first though - i have my priorities right.

I guess you went to the gym yesterday, what's on the agenda for today?

Hi Peter

Watching tennis sounds like a good recovery session - nearly as good as watching Little Brittain DVD's <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Whistle.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

The pool was packed today - there were at least 25 people there, I think they must all have made NY Resolutions to start swimming in 2010. And the lady in the full rashi (black) with the head scarf (black) and goggles (black) was there again: she doesn't seem to swim though, she just hangs out on the steps @ the deep end, takes a dip occasionally and watches the guy that she comes to the pool with. Hmmm, interesting.

Are you still stepping, rowing and walking at the gym or have you added more stuff?

Hi Peter

Yeah, I did wanna know all that, now I don't have to ask <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

<img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> Things r not good here. The fluey thing has returned with a massive massive headache. Went for a blood test yesterday but that's the end of my getting out and about, barely able to move in fear of my head splitting open.

Didn't get to the pool on Saturday, but am now feeling much better thanks Peter. I haven't been outside to pick up the Herald Sun yet, but am off for a swim in half an hour or so (I'm still eating breakfast - yeah, I know it's wrong to have breakfast at 2.30 pm) so I'll pick it up then.

Hi Peter,

Hahahaha

I'm still here. Was feeling a bit disillusioned for a while, but feeling much better today. I had a "nothing day" and did a few things with no time constraints and no rushing around - including a swim. And yes, I had the pool to myself again by the end of my swim. When I arrived there were three other people in the pool but eventually they left and so, I had the pool to myself. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fishie.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fishie:' />

I'm thinking about going in the Portsea Classic next year...........just thinking. Not actually committing to it yet. I posted it on my Facebook page and have a taker who says that she'll go in it with me and suggested the Lorne Pier to Pub to which I replied - let's do both. They're both in January, and both in similar conditions so if we can do one, we can probably do both. Portsea is 1.2 km and Lorne is the same distance.

How's the gym work going?

I managed to get a copy of the Body and Soul Section of the Sunday Herald Sun that you mentioned recently (my home delivered copy of the HS got stolen.... AGAIN on that day) but I haven't read it yet.

I set my air walker up in front of the TV a couple of days ago and tried to get the little digital monitor that measures everything going but it doesn't work <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> .

Doctor's visit today went well, lost some weight in the past 2 weeks and my blood pressure is down so that's all positive.

Suze, is an air walker the same as a elliptical cross trainer machine?

Hi Guys,

Yes, the air walker is "as Peter described". I think Buzz Aldrin used to advertise them on daytime TV about 10 years ago - when my daughter talked me into buying it for her. She's left home now, but the air walker hasn't (just like her cat).

I too am very scared of the jelly fish having been stung by blue bottles when I used to be a surf lifesaver up at Freshwater Beach (Harbord, NSW). But you don't hear much about people being stung here in Melbourne in those two particular swims - I think the water may be too cold for the stinging type of jelly fish - anyway safety in numbers as the meercats say.

Seriously I do get the pool to myself, I'm not kidding! The New Year Revolutionist numbers have dropped off a bit now too so it's back to similar numbers as it was in mid December.

My papers get stolen because the bloody delivery guy leaves them outside the fence on the footpath or the nature strip instead of bringing them inside the fence and because I work nights and don't get outside the gate until after 2.00 pm it gives passers by plenty of time to pick them up and head off home with them. I really must phone up the Herald Sun delivery line about it and will schedule it for next week.
