Hey guys,
I guess many of you will have heard that Tony Abbott is now the leader of the Federal Liberal Party.
http://www.theage.com.au/national/abbott-w...91201-k1va.html
How do people feel about it? I actually like the guy. Not sure if I am in the minority or not. He always seemed to be a pretty honest sort of guy! Perhaps a bit rough around the edges but heart in the right place. I don't really know Joe Hockey.
Though I must confess to have a prety bad memory so i guess Tony might have had some slips in the past but i cannot remember them!
I do remember Mr Abbott turning up late to an interview with Gillard when he was heath minister but that was quite entertaining! I never liked Gillard! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

IMO, there is no body in the public eye better than Turnbull to lead the Libs and Abbott is to abrasive and disingenuous to appeal to the public.

Peter, have you ever watched an episode of Q & A when Tony Abbott is on... he appears abrasive to me, like a piece of course sandpaper.
The Libs need to and probably will pull out the woodwork their very own version of Kevin Rudd when the time comes, at the moment they need to go through the battered front end to do their dirty work re: the ETS.
How the Libs will manage against a double disillusion election with Tony Abbott at the reins is mind boggling.
The double dissolution seems to not be a goer!
That's because our illustrious Emperor wishes to go to the polls after a full term. Cos that's what promised.
It maybe just the first promise ever kept by a politician.
Really?... I hadn't heard.
Well, then everything makes perfect sense now.... Abbott is the old bull (pun reference to Malcolm intended) to take the beating while the shiny new coin waits in the wings for the general election.

Haha. Well I guess Joe Hockey might be hoping that would be him but I reckon Tony will keep the job for a while.
Tony is a bit rough around the edges but I like him.
I don't like polished potliticians. The more polished they are the more they are liars and scammers I think!!!
If i hear Rudd on the radio I just flick to another station because I can't handle the sound of his voice. Though yes I do confess I did vote for him!

Ben 10 seems to be everywhere! It is a cartoon show but also there are heaps of kids toys, school stationary, dvds etc.

Julie Bishop has been on ABC's Insiders a couple of times since being given the boot.... and probably other shows including radio.

She was previously given the boot from the front bench... or some such event.
Hey Iblis!
Surely "was" is incorrect?
She is still deputy? Yes?
My wife (who knows absolutely everything) says J Bishop is still deputy!
Maybe she is transparent!
I didn't used to like Tony Abott, but his spin doctors are doing a good job on me. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/officechair.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

Hi Ya'll <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/gathering.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />
Do I like Tony Abbott? Nope, not one bit - especially with Eric Abetz on the front bench.
I don't like their IR policies nor do I like their policy of the pension age being increased to 70. At the end of the day I think the next election will move the focus away from climate change and back to workplace relations which will be enough for Kevin Rudd to win the next election despite his errors such as internet censorship, border protection, ETS and one or two other things.
