The Election
#21
A few days ago I heard that the resolution is due in by the end of this week. The Liberal party appears to have won the popular vote, Labour really got defecated on this election.

Yeah I agree with that! And I believe part of that "decoration" came from farm animals! hahaha <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/gathering.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':gathering:' /> <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/gathering.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':gathering:' />

Well, i don't know now, Peter. Today, Oakshot said that a decision might not be made until next week. You were right to begin with.

Wilkies sided with Labor so we have 74 labor to 73 Liberal seats.

I truly believe that the independents have the national interest at heart and that's what we all voted for ...a win for the people, if you ask me. We might not get everything we want but we'll get a damn sight more than we would've with either of the other mob let loose on the reins.

I cant believe that this is the only country in the world that a minority party ( Greens & independents ) can hold the country to ransom ......

Next time have a look at the lack of foresight and NO policy parties .... who will you vote for in 2 years at the cost of another

$60 mil plus to who ..... ohhhhh us ....... and why 2 years because the ******* said so ... and who voted for this *******.....

I wish they would hurry up! You know the state election campaign is starting up! I am suffering from election fatigue!!! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I might be suffering from an acute case of post-election stress disorder also known as PSD.

the symptoms are known to include:

1) not wanting to vote on anything

2) not wanting to hear about treasury analysis of funding commitments and which economic forecasting model is the best

3) not wanting to hear about how bored the commonwealth public servants have become during their caretaker period

4) wishing the caretaker period was renamed the "who cares we are all bored public servants" period

5) not wanting to see ex-politicians do commentary (particular that dodgy guy from 60 minutes).

6) feeling annoyed that neither party said a single word about housing affordability!!!!

On the subject of local elections, are they compulsory like the Federal elections?

There is probably some kind of registry but I was wondering how to know about elections whilst over seas, any idea?

Thanks Glen.

I've filled out an Overseas Notification Form for both VEC and AEC electoral rolls so that my name is removed.

Keep the basterds honest, guys.

Is your trip O Seas temporary?
Indefinite, Peter. That's why i've opted to be removed from the electoral roll. I'll re-enroll on return if required.

I guess Rudd with get foreign affairs. He loves all those international stage hugging and shaking hands stuff. Personally I rather go fishing <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Oh well congratulations to Julia. As Tony said in his speech today, hopefully Labor improve their performance! The 3 year traineeship is over and now they have to actually do some good stuff! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

That means fast broadband in the next 3 years! Not in 2020!

Hi all.

I think the quote of the election was from T Windsor.

He said:

"Do it once. Do it right. Do it with fibre."

Not bad considering he is computer illiterate!
Ha! I thought he was talking about keeping regular.

I have fibre in my street (via optus). So what is so special about this new fibre? Sounds like a trick to me! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
