The Melbourne Chat Rants Section
#1
It's helpful once in a while to vent your spleen.

I am a very positive individual but I know that complaining and ranting about things sometimes can be beneficial. We can see that other people are having the same issues and we can discuss how to improve them together.

OK here is my 5 second rant just for fun!

I get annoyed when people don't give way when they have a parked car on their side. I sometimes play chicken driving straight at them just to see if they will pull to one side but they seem to think they will miraculously fit through a gap of any width! i guess if i had a semi trailer they might think twice!

end rant.

thank you i feel better now <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Hey Peter, I actually meant someone coming from the opposite direction. But you raised a very good point. I also don't like those sneek-in-from-the-left-merge-lane mob! I try and block them too <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> hehehe

My biggest and probably only rant that pertains to Melbourne is the public transport system. We all know how unreliable it is but it should be safer than it actually is. I don't feel safe catching PT at night, especially on the Pakenham Line, although I'm not stating that it's 'dangerous'.

I also get annoyed with a lot of the cab drivers here in Melbourne who end up taking long routes and who seem like they've never opened a street directory or referred to any kind of map of Melbourne in their life!

Yeah it looks like it is pretty easy to be a cabbie <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Do the Muslim cabbies fast during Ramadan?

They are dangerous enough without going hungry!

Should they alert the passengers that they could pass out?

The other week an Arab cab driver went a long route. I wanted to go from South Yarra Station to Albert Park, he ended up driving me all the way through Fitzroy Street, St Kilda! What a jackass! Although passengers need to be aware of this scam and immediately question the cab driver if they try to scam you.

Yeah I think they do. Though I think the GPS trend has well and truly ended.

Melways is good because it helps you to work it out with your brain. And I have a bad memory already so i need all the brain training i can get! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Yeah but isn't it better to just explore melbourne? there is a reason why melways does not include sydney! hahaha

Nah actually I think there is a sydney version but it would be a waste of money unless you have thoroughly explored melbourne and victoria first <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I apologize if my comment seems racist.

Replies: Some cabs have GPS others don't. Sydney has Sydway, same company that prints Melway in Melbourne.
