Politics, Climate Change and Andrew Bolt
#21
It is good that a result has been declared so early. Now they can get on and "do stuff"!

Did the greens/independents get any upper house seats? Or is all lib/labor?

Sadly the greens did not get any rep seats although they got a few in senate.

I will be working harder.. Glen you actually motivated me. I am, seriously thinking of standing!!

By the way the Libs are the ONLY party that had an openly gay candidate!!! Ted B has actually come out as supporting same sex unions which is more than Brumby did!!!

Blimey... might be rethinking my politics!

The sheer stupidity of Andrew Bolt and his ilk astounds me at times. Here we have a journalist claiming yet again that climate change, global warming is rubbish and those terrible greens have got it wrong. Who would you prefer to listen to Andrew Bolt or..

The gepphysical union write some stunning articles

I believe that once you look at the impressive list of scientists who do believe in climate change and look at the psuedo scientists and theatrically impressive but intellectually shallow individuals such as Monckton it starts to put the skeptics where they belong, in oblivion.. Some months back there was a public debate with climatechange scientists with the ridiculous Alan Jones bending over back wards showing his bias. Monckton is a right wing journalist... nothing more. Theatrically he is impressive but so was Hitler and Stalin.

Of course Peterj and all are entitled to like Bolt but I just thought it fair I should explain why I think he is intellectually vacuous.

I wasn't having a go at you Peter.

Bolt does quote scientists but not climate scientists. Al Gore does not claim to be a scientist but surely a man of his intellectual brilliance cannot be compared to Bolt. Having heard him speak and tackle the skeptics he is very impressive. His evidence comes from climate scientists and thats the difference.

The carbon tax is inevitable the reason Greens push it is to guarantee that its effective. If we do not heed the advice we will pay a much higher price in years to come. You and I may be possibly dead and buried when the worse effects of global warming hit. but I believe we all have an ethical obligation to future generations. Yes a tax will be a burden but a dead planet is a worse one.

I know many farmers who are demanding climate change action so with respect you are wrong. Many have been forced to walk off their land and this is happening all around the world.

Manufacturing in Australia has declined for reasons that had nothing to do with Green policy. Indeed the Greens have long advocated policies supporting Australian industry.

Bob Brown is a great Australian .. for a start the Franklin would have been destroyed if it was not for his dedication and little people like myself who fought hard to save this beautiful resource. As a result tourism to this area has brought more income to Tasmania than any other resource including industry.

The old cliche of mud huts long haired unwashed greenies etc is tiresome and wrong.

If you attended a Green rally you would see men in business suits, old women, students and people from all walks of life.

It is a shame they did not save Lake Pedder in Tassie. I have seen photos of the original lake and it was truly awesome.

Throughout history Glen there is evidence that its a shame we never listened to the stupid environmentalists.

We are losing the battle to protect so many wonderful creatures.

Glen I was one of the idiots that protested about Lake P.

As a result of the flooding of Lake Pedder at least one species of fish disappeared and two unique earth worms. The Lake Pedder worm had the potential of being used in farming and now it has gone. What is sad today is that few people seem to really care. Nor do they care that the Amazon is being destroyed, the lungs of the world. It should be noted that as we destroy plants we may also be destroying the research that goes with them including medical research.

Hey Peter. Well I am going to tassie for a holiday soon. We won't make it to Peddar this time but we will visit the central highlands. It is a beautiful spot. I just wish there wasn't so many tiger snakes!

Notice the increased rainfall lately Glen? This is yet another example of what the climate change scientists predicted yet the skeptics are actually claiming its proof that there is no climate change.

The only acceptable form of climate change is known as WWR. Or "working week rain". Basically due to industrial acticity it only rains during the week and the weekends are fine and sunny! Then again I could have made that up! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> Hahaha

Anyway the true believers ALL started out telling us unwashed donkeys that the world was doomed by global warming!

So when that did not quite go as expected it was morphed into climate change.

LOL

Well simply not so my friend. It was NEVER morphed.

The climate scientists right from the beginning asserted that the warming process would be accompanied by rainfalls often unprecedented. Andrew Bolt seems unaware that floods existed! I wonder if Bolt would have the guts to confront the families of those who lost their homes or businesses in the floods. Probably not.

AS for climate change being a more appropriate term this is because the complexities of global warming are quite intricate. Global warming while true does not include the full picture.

See our Bob Brown actually got back at Bolt. Funny Bolt dishes it out to Bob Brown all the time but Bolt is a wimp and cannot take it back.

If you see Bolts pathetic attempt at journalism in the Sun its proof that he cannot write either.
