I actually saw Regina Spektor, Lisa Mitchell and The Dillinger Escape Plan not long ago, here's what I thought:

Regina Spektor: This was just an amazing concert. Regina commands her voice with such finesse and grace it was just an amazing spectacle to watch. She didn't play for long enough in my opinion, but what she did play, included the entirety of her latest album Far, as well as some ad lib versions of some of her older more popular songs. I was blown away by her performance and readily felt some of the emotions she was communicating with the audience as well as feeling shivers up my spine from some of her powerful vocal deliveries.

Periphery: When I heard these guys were coming to Australia to support Dillinger after having just released their debut album, I was shocked. Here is a band that just a few months ago were no bigger than any of my previous musical ventures, and seemingly over night are signed to a small independent label like Sumerian Records, and BANG. Over night a thousand and one bands appear all trying to sound like Periphery, they get signed to Roadrunner Australia, and they're on their first international tour.

Just amazing.

Anyway, their performance was amazing, insanely tight, flawless delivery of vocals and guitar solo's. Misha Mansoor the brain child of Periphery has amazing stage presence. Nothing alike Dillinger, he really wasn't "crazy" onstage, but what I did see was his amazing heartfelt delivery. He just loves what he's doing and you could see it in his body, in his face, and you could hear it in his guitar solo's. Amazing musicians the lot of them! And the only 3 people in the crowd moshing and singing along to every track was me and a two other friends.

I later got to see Misha and shake Spencer Sotello's (the singer) hand after the performance. This is a band well worth checking out.

The Dillinger Escape Plan: Oh my god.

This guys were just insane. Tight, reckless and violent on stage. I was hit in the head by the guitarist's headstock from when he jumped into the crowd. I did a mic grab and was able to start the song, When Good Dogs Do Bad Things, which was so freaking cool.

This band on stage look like a possed bunch of angry moshers, whose only goal is to hurt each other and be stupid. They were climbing the light fittings, jumping into the crowd, playing guitar solo's on the bar (at the other end of the venue, wtf?!) and all round just being crazy. It was an amazing show.

Lisa Mitchell: The first two bands were alright, but I just wanted them to go away and have Lisa come on stage. She walked on stage and to my surprise had a completely new backing band, she started singing and it was like angels whispering in my ear.

I melted immediately. She was so beautiful and her performance was mesmerising and enchanting. I was completely intoxicated by the sights and sounds. She was so demure and cute it hurt. She played all my favourites which was excellent. At one point she began to sing covers of songs that she loves, she played Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits and even a soft, choir acoustic version of Like a Prayer.

I LOVE THAT SONG.

Anyways towards the end she invited a friend on stage to play and sing a song. They played some Beatles song which needed us to whistle. He was very charming, pretty, drunk and funny. They played their song together seemingly flirting with each other. And then when he said goodbye to the crowd he grabbed her by the arm and kissed her on the lips.

D:

At that point the crowd started wolf whistling and heckling, so it was okay because no body could hear my heart break.

But really it was just an amazing concert, it's clear how much passion she puts into her performances, I loved every moment of it.
