a suggestion would be not to respond to posts by spammers but have users report the post and have moderators delete the post.

hi jase, thanks for the suggestion. generally i try to act swiftly against spammers but i am in china at the moment on holiday so you might see a bit of a delay before i delete the spammers out of existence.



i know i should appoint some moderators to help with spam obliteration but i had some problems setting them up and so i am waiting for the next version of the forum software because i believe it will be a lot easier to set up moderators once the new version comes out. then we can all hunt down spam together! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wub:' />

a suggestion would be to have a subforum for food/wine and a subforum for nightlife rather than food/nightlife, under Melbourne Information.

I just read on the hosting company website that the server was hacked into but it has now been restored. I hope no posts were lost! Apologies if anyone lost posts. To fix a modem I suggest you turn it on and off. Works for me <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Nope I never tried that one. I have a oldish (G?) wireless router but it does not work thru walls so it was a complete disappointment.
