Men's Haircut In Melbourne
#1
A Good Men's Haircut......

After replying to Glen's post on a men's haircut, this made me think of how many guys struggle to find a good place to get their haircut. I must admit, as soon as started UNI I was asking some mates where they went to get a decent haircut at a decent rate.

Glen's post made me think hard about his hair raising topic, that quite frequently you always find men are asking around where to get a good cut.

I thought I'd take it upon myself to spread some goodwill amongst the Melbourne community!

I go to a qualified Men's cutter at Biba Men in the basement, in the city - who specialises in modern, traditional, and creative men's cutting - basically whatever you like and that suits your face and lifestyle. A haircut costs $25 but they also have walk in specials on certain days at $15.

If you're struggling to get a decent haircut that serves well, give them a go.

Cheers

I really need a hair cut and this BibaMen place sounds pretty good at a reasonable price. Is it located at "The Basement", under Myer at Bourke St yes?

No, its not located at Bourke St Myer - its opposite RMIT on Swanston St - 401 Swanston St to be exact.

If you go, let me know how your expereince is there - I'm due for another cut real soon too.

Hi guys

I am in search of a new hairdresser - I have read on Biba Swanston Street. Can anyone share some expereinces on men's cuts they have received? It sounds ok but I would like to know more about it and who I should ask for to cut my hair.

Cheers

Whoah! I'm amazed by how many people have read this particular post- thanks Glen for initiating a meeting point to discuss all things Melbourne!

Just to share and give an insight - I went to Biba in the basement for a haircut today and once again I am very happy - I brought a mate and introduced him to the place. They had cuts going for $15 - too easy! For those who are yet to discover this place its at 401 Swanston Street City - across the road from RMIT Uni. Ask for Andrew - he runs the Mens section. I read Mark's recent post -I recommend the men of Melbourne to try them out - a good cut, cool atmosphere and great value for money.

I'd be interested to see what you guys think of your haircuts once you've visited BIBA Barbershop.

Beware that the guys inj the basement are all apprentices so its a bit hit and miss. Dr Folicles Barbershop in Richmond and Fitzroy are really cool and you get a free beer with every cut.

Having moved down from the Coast I did a serach on the internet on men's haircut in melbourne and I was directed to this site. I read up on Biba and went in for a cut yesterday. Fair to say one of the best cuts I've had in years - as a guy who never knows what I want I had all the hard work taken care for me. I had one of the cutting teachers supervising my haircut with every snip.

If you're not looking for something fancy then you'll find a bloke on Carlisle Street in Balaclava in the Staor store near the station who does cuts for $10. Nothing fancy but quick and easy

Wanted add to this after my experience at Edward Beale in Lygon Street which wasn't at all good. I am new to Melbourne from Perth and just went on convenience and what I believed was a safe bet. I understand cutting hair is hard and like drinking wine can be subjective but this was not a good experience. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It may be that this salon excels at womens hair and the award on the counter may have eluded to this but gents do yourself a favour and avoid getting your haircut here.

No greeting, no conversation, no smiles, and the end product just didn't cut it (sorry) for the money being paid. If this is indicative of what I should expect in Melbourne for a haircut then that is a shame. I won't be back and neither will anyone I know.

Anyway will be trying something new in 5 weeks time again.

Wow, Glen. You beat me on the pricing that I thought my hair cut of 10 dollars beat any one in town! It is down in Tony & Samy in Camberwell. Off the Burke rd near camberwell train station.

They both are Italians and talk about soccer all the time. Very funny blokes in deed.
