Asian Food Festival 2008

8 Aug 2008 - 30 Sep 2008

MELBOURNE VIC 3000

The Asian Food festival is presented by the Chinese Restaurateurs Association of Victoria (CRAV) and is in its 22nd year.

With over 30-plus restaurants participating and special events across Melbourne the program is becoming bigger and more popular year by year.

Discover the delights of Chinese, Malaysian, Indian, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisines. Melburnians love great food and they love exploring new tastes. Add the wonderful array and aroma of fresh produce available to our city’s restaurants, you have all the ingredients for a lively gastronomic culture.

Special menus presented by some restaurants, the Chinatown Progressive Dinners are always popular along with the Yarra River Floating Yum Cha Luncheon cruise and the Floating Asian Dinners cruise. The AFF cooking demonstrations, cooking competitions and culinary awards are also highlights with the aim to promote and recognise excellence in the Asian restaurant industry.

Cost: Costs vary depending on the Restaurant/Event.

To me, this festival failed to deliver each year.

The food was never up to scratch: mainly dim sims and spring rolls that were soaked in oil with black coloured oil. The theme of festival lacked a direction and interesting activities besides trying to make a buck using the cheapest ingredient with poor hygeine practice.

I would like to see real food with unique ingredients and style according to historial values and regional specialty
