Hungarian Monument Location
#1
Hi all,

I have a picture of a monument located in a city park that I would like to visit next month but I don't know it's location!

I understand it was installed just after the 1956 Olympic games.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Bearbloke.

Why not try the Hungarian Consul.

Best wishes.

can't say i know where it is. i did a bit of a search for it on the 'net, but all i could come up with was one reference to it on a website (http://www.whitehat.com.au/melbourne/Build.../7Monuments.asp) which gives us quite a bit of information about the monument, but not unfortunately its location.

All i could find was this page which suggests there is a Hungarian memorial in the Melbourne General Cemetery.

It might be a different monument. Not sure.

Hello bearbloke32,

It is indeed in the Melbourne General Cemetery.

I was recently talking to a Hungarian woman about this very monument.

Apparently she & her father carried it from the metalforger to the plater in the back of a station wagon, nearly breaking the suspension.
