Hey peoples,
I'm a newbie to the forum, and a soon-to-be newbie to Melbourne. I've been looking on the forum for advice on the best suburb to live, but all the people asking seem to be looking for a place to raise their kids. My partner and I aren't planning on children any time soon; we're both young professionals with reasonable incomes and we like to enjoy ourselves.
Inner city is where we're looking, preferably close to the G. Looking at a map tells me somewhere like Richmond or South Yarra would be pretty nice, but I'm looking for some input on the 'culture' that we're looking for. Don't care about schools, or parks, or childcare facilites, but we're very interested in the local drinking holes, convenience shopping and quality (but not too upmarket) dining experiences.
So the question is, what's the best suburb for a young couple that likes to eat out, have a few drinks at the pub and occasionally hit the town?
