Wow i think maybe News Radio took a dive because most people get bored with Parliament Debate broadcasts. Though I still listen to them on the way home each night. Maybe I am easily amused! hahahaha

On Radio National last night (Late Night Live) Mark Scott (ABC's managing director) stated that the digital radio revolution will see Parliament Question time move from News Radio or some such similar announcement inferring that News Radio will become more of dedicated News Channel.

I found this very interesting, and thanks for posting it: my issue is that i'm trying to find a decent radio station to appeal to younger mums with kids really aged between 6 and 13, and teens, to whom to advertise my workshops (positive thinking and self esteem, anti-cyber bullying etc) and I was actually surprised at the ratings results. Trouble is, they are all so expensive and the community radio stations haven't even answered my emails! If anyone has any ideas, let me know, guys. And FYI I have even had feedback from PMs so I am on the right path, just need someone to pick it up for me. positiverules.com.au

Quite of lot of changes happening in Melbourne radio soon...



Macquarie Radio, who owns Sydney top rating station 2GB and 2CH are looking at a joint venture with Pacific Star who own 3MP and SEN in Melbourne. This is accompanied by the return of ex 2UE's Steve Price to Melbourne radio broadcasting on 3MP which will convert from its music format to a talk format to compete with 3AW.



There were also rumours that 3AW's Neil Mitchell would move across but he has just re-signed with 3AW and is staying there.



So it boils down to Melbourne having another talkback station similar to 2GB in Sydney.



Interesting to see how all this will pan out in the next few years <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I think you'll find a lot of people feel the same and it's a similar deal with Alan Jones in Sydney - so much so that he was able to jump from one station to another and take all his listeners with him - and the new owners of 3MP and SEN are trying to replicate that situation in Melbourne.

That's what they wanted, however only today Neil has re-signed with 3AW - so no changes there.



Steve Price (ex 3AW then 2UE) is likely to be moving across however.

Interesting how the ratings have changed in 6 years. The doof doof stations have lost ground which is one good thing
