#1
Hi,

where does the name "Rialto" come from?

I know, there's a quarter in venice with that name and the famous Rialto Bridge...

Greetings

Quote:Designed by architects Gerard de Preu and Partners in association with Perrott Lyon Mathieson, the building was built between 1982 and 1986, opening in October 1986, and takes its name from the much older Rialto Building next door.

exactly.

In the beginning I was wondering myself about the new one. I thought it might come somehow from the Rialto Bridge in Venice Italy. Then I found out, that the new one was named about the old one and also that there are a couple of buildings with that name in the US and may be around the world as well. Someone suggested that Rialto would be an Italian Family Name. But the Venetian Bridge is according to wikipedia named after the Venetian district Rialto.
