Rialto Towers Still Open?

Just wondered if the Rialto tower viewing platform is still going or has the Eureka taken its place? Anyone heard anything about the controversial wheel?

Not sure .... I believe it's shut down now - heard they're putting a restaurant in there soon. The website doesn't list anything about the observatory so i guess that is the end of the Rialto Towers as we know it.

Yeah, as far as i know the wheel is gone... cost to much money to maintain.

Having lost its crown as the highest lookout in Melbourne, the Rialto Observation Deck is to close on New Year's Eve.



JOSEPHINE CAFAGNA, REPORTER: When Premier John Brumby wanted to announce something from up high this week, he chose to do it at Melbourne's tallest building, the Eureka Tower in Southbank. Until recently, Melbourne's highest viewpoint was the observation deck at the Rialto Tower, but as James Bennett reports after 16 years of service, that lookout is now set to be the location for an upmarket restaurant...
