Viewing Little Penguins
#1
Hi Guys,

the wife, the baby and I are very excited to be coming to Melbourne for the tennis in a fortnight, and hope to spend some time seeing the little penguins. With the baby we aren't to keen to go all the way to Philip Island (4-5hours in a mini bus can be a bit much) so were excited to see a couple of cruises such as the urban penguins tour operating out of the city and st. kilda (where we are staying). I've tried contacting the two compaines i could find online and both had disconnected numbers and haven't replied to my e-mails. I presume they have stopped operating. Does anyone know of any boat tours which are still running tat offer a similar experience. Cheers, rich.

hi there,

phillip island is not 4-5 hours drive! It takes me about 1 hr and 20 minutes one way. Maybe that is a very slow bus!!!!

i don't hear much about the urban penguins but I think it could not possibly come close to the penguin parade at phillip island!

hope you have a great time at the tennis.

cheers, glen

There is a penguin colony at the end of the St Kilda Pier. Funnily enough, not too many Melbournian's know about them. There is a small tour company that will run tours, and the best thing is that it is right in the middle of Melbourne. Check out www.stkildapenguins.com.au
