If anyone knows of any Hislops in the area it would be good to hear from you. or if there are any Hislops with a connection to Edinburgh, Scotland.
My Grandads dad left his family and went over there some time between 1920-1940 and started a new family somewhere in Australia. I think he left either for work in the oil or diamond mining. But not 100%
My Grandad was born in Edinburgh, 1920, and was also called Robert Hislop. He has now died so we really dont' have much information on his Dad.
He may have changed his name so I might never be able to trace the family he had. Its always been something we've all wondered about over the years.
