Melbourne Credit Card Rates
#1
I'm thinking about switching credit cards, prompted by a radio promo this morning. There's an Aussie low rate card at 9.99%. Seems pretty good. I'm interested to know peoples opinions?

I am a loyal customer so have been with the same bank since opening a dollar mite (or some such) account in primary school. Most banks have a variety of different credit cards tailored to suite an individuals lifestyle.

My current credit card has no yearly fee but the interest rate on purchases (which, I had to check) is a high 18.99% and with no rewards--I never have interest charges.

I couldn't find the annual fee on the Aussie credit card you mentioned kitefly... and other considerations like transfer frees dishonour fees and the like need to be addressed. The Aussie 9.99% is for 12 months, does not apply to cash advances and there are *Fees and charges apply as long as other conditions that are only available on application.

Aussie tops the low interest page: http://www.creditcardsaustralia.com.au/lowinterest.htm also shows that the annual fee is $49

Augh! Figures!

Those sites were helpful. I think the Aussie card looks like it might be suitable for me. I do have a bit of a balance to transfer, so the 10% drop in interest would be great there. It shouldn't take more than a couple of months to pay of though, so then the 9.99% interest comes into effect...right? Then after 12 months it's 11.74%. Still better than my current card.

The annual fee looks okay in comparison to others...some of them are really high and with high interest too!
