The Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre, located in Melbourne and headed by Professor of Psychiatry Jayashri Kulkarni A.M. is seeking men aged between 18-65 with a diagnosis of schizophrenia OR schizo affective disorder to participate in a 12 week study evaluating the effects of a well known drug on the symptoms of schizophrenia.

The drug, we are investigating is called bazedoxifene and is a type of estrogen widely used to protect post-menopausal women from complications of menopause such as loss of bone density. To be eligible, participants must meet strict criteria which includes being free from any substance dependence (excluding nicotine and caffeine) for a period of SIX months prior to participation in this study.

$30 will be provided for each visit to the research centre except the screening visit.
