haha, Aussie homeloans are sending one of their mortgage advisors skydiving for promotion: duane jumps I think it's real too, he really does seem like a mortgage advisor.

What's the point of it? Is the mortgage adviser on the ad?

I have never tried either but I seriously think that bungee jumping would be scarier than jumping out of a plan.

Do you? I think they'd be equally scary. I'm going skydiving in a few weeks, which is why my friend sent me that link. I think I'm a lot happier about it than Duane.

yeah... I figure having no point of reference during free falling out of a plane and not really being able to look down before jumping would be the major difference.
.... but oh yeah... very scary either way... just be sure not to think so much and waste your endorphins before jumping, though I am not sure how much of a choice you would have with the likely fact that you would be strapped to an instructor doing the actual jumping.
Anyone here ever done both?

Maybe Duane better try that one for practice.
Hey guys, I just saw on another forum that this is all part of an online treasure hunt competition. So far, I have been directed to: aussie freefall facebook but I really can't figure out what to do next. Does anyone want to team up to play and find codes? There's money up for grabs.

Thanks! I tried googling those words, but I didn't find the URL. Dopey. Are you going to have a guess at where he lands?

The web site probably disables spidering so that search engines do not list the site.
A bit early to guess the jump zone location, Sydney is a possibility being a densely populated place and also where Duane is located.

You can have more than one guess though, can't you? As long as you find the codes? I reckon go for places, where they have skydiving. I'm doing my jump in Picton.

Yeah, one guess per code found... I actually thought there would be more clues to the landing location not just the obvious; not near an airport or CBD area. Winning lotto would be more likely then guessing a single landing location in Australia, I am not even going to bother... let me know if you need help with other codes though.
Might be worth investigating what makes a good skydive landing zone considering that existing sky dive zones are not necessarily going to apply, might even be worth look out for what other major events are being held on the same say as the jump (6th of April).

Maybe there will be more clues as the comp progresses?
I would have thought that they had to stick to existing sky dive areas...for a safety thing. No?

There certainly could be (and most definitely should be)... just that there are no signs of clues that would orient toward landing site disclosure, all the guessing games appear to surround the entry codes.

Yeah, I suppose... considering Duane is not a professional skydiver, he will probably stay clear of extravagant MCG/SCG entrances and the like.

I sorta took it as they wouldn't know the exact co-ordinates themselves yet. Surely there is some area picked out, but the exact landing spot would depend on the wind and stuff on the day, wouldn't it? Or is there not that variation on sky dive landings?

I got the exact same kind of gist from the promotion however, the guessing area is so large that getting an exact landing spot without clues is slightly ludicrous.
Professional skydivers on television seem to be pretty accurate on their landings even though really heavy winds are probably a factor and maybe even a nullifier, as in jumps having to be cancelled during strong winds, though I am really not that informed regarding the art of sky diving. A few years back when I went hand gliding, the session was nearly cancelled due to strong winds, though the two sports are only similar in altitude.

Yeah, it does seems like a difficult thing. But it says that it's the person who gets closets to his landing spot. You don't have to hit it right on the button (is that a saying, or did I make it up??). So somebody has to win it.
Anyway, I found a code, if you changed your mind about playing along: BPVio1

Thanks for the code... yeah nearest to the landing spot wins the major prize and then next closest winners get the minor prizes, and probably why exact landing zone clues are not given, to many people would claim the major prize.
How did you get the code?
