South Yarra - Hotels

I am visiting Melbourne for the first time I would love some info on South Yarra. Is it a good idea to stay in a hotel in South Yarra if I intend to visit chinatown, the casino and most visitors sites in inner Melbourne? I would love some feedback on budget hotels if anyone has any, I was thinking of the Claremont guesthouse.

Hi Leigh,



You might as well stay closer to the city if you are going to visit those places.



Maybe try one of those travel websites like wotif.com to get a good deal. Only what I usually do is I check the best deal and then, rather than making a booking thru wotif, i ring up the hotel and book directly. If they ask you for more money just say you saw a cheap price on wotif and they usually agree to give you the internet price.

ps. To get the hotel phone number you could just use the online white or yellow pages or just do a google search.
