Hallo guys....
Can anyone please lay it down to me how the renting process works from beginning to end or until moving in....who decides the actual moving in date, is it me or the agents (by this l mean, can l move in when l want to and if so when do l start paying the rent)
Thanks all

Thanx Glen....
But just to rephrase....l will be in temporary accommodation for upto 4 weeks paid for. Are the agents normally willing to wait until this expires so l can move in then and then start paying rent on the new gaffe.(l want to try and avoid a situation where l might end up paying rent for 2 properties if the agent has a specific moving in date)....
how does the process normally work? can l actually choose my own moving in date i.e.within a few days or a few weeks

most landlords would look at the dollars and cents. If you take too long they will just rent the house to someone else. i would think 2 or 3 weeks would be a reasonable period to ask for.

glad to help.
another good source of info for tenants is the Consumer Affairs website:
http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au
Here is their Renting page - http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/CA256EB5000...amp;2=~&3=~
....or try the Victorian Tenants Union:

thanks again....
theres a wealth of information on the above links and l wil try my best to read through most of it as should any prospective or current tenants for that matter....
They say always read thoroughly through and understand any sort of contract before signing it (its all in the small print) to protect yourself because once youve signed its legally binding.
