I'm fairly certain that Brisbane is the Australian hub of game development; however, Melbourne is probably a better place to live... if you can handle the weather.

Melbourne is actually much further away from the equator than Brisbane which, is much hotter on average.

ha! I've been living north of the equator too long. Of course it'd be colder -that- far south.
