Introducing Your Newest Member :)

Hi all!

I am 30 and have just moved to the great city of Melbourne from Sydney. I was born and raised there and moved here only a few months ago. I've always loved Melbourne, the culture, the people, the night life and ofcourse ... the SHOPPING! LOL decided to move here for a change <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

I am looking at making new friends and expanding my social network in Melbourne to see what it has to offer. Leaving all of my friends behind, I have found it hard to make friends in the new state as everyone my age, already have their usual crowd.

I am fun, easy going, have a great sense of humour, a good listener and very caring, fantastic and loyal friend and easy to get along with.

I enjoy travelling, photography, meeting new people, having a great chat over coffee/dinner, love to laugh, like watching sports such as Soccer, AFL and NRL and would love to go see my first live AFL game soon and become a real Melbournian haha

I like going to the movies, having fun out on the town, site seeing, I love R&B music and am a great person, if i may say so myself <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

If you would like to chat or have any ideas on how I can make some friends and enjoy Melbourne, please write to me. I'd love to hear from you <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I've a complimentary double pass for "An Elephant in the Room" playing at Theatre Works on Acland Street in St. Kilda for this Friday at 8pm and i've been hard pressed to find somebody to join me at such short notice.

Are you interested, SydneyChick?

Here is a link to the play: http://www.theatreworks.org.au/whatson/event.php?id=50

Hi, My name is Michelle, I've just started chix & chooks coffee club for ladies only in Melbourne. If you'd be interested here's the link

It might be a good way to start meeting up with new women and getting a social network happening

I went to Theatre Works with my Mum. The show was OK ...had some good bits and had some bits that did my head in and made no sense. An experience was had none the less. The venue was ordinary, such uncomfortable seating that was not even numbered. Coming back after intermission was funny watching people trying to get back to their original seating, lots of humorous confusion. Shouldn't really complain about complimentary tickets, although; parking did cost $12.

yes it's terrible Peter isn't it that we need a different level of protection that you guys do. You don't see women stalking mens groups to try and sexually assault or offend men that can't defend themselves do you? I'm afraid we are the weaker sex, but in this politically correct world i'm not allowed to say that am I?

I'm not just talking physically strong, I'm talking vulnerable. I've been there re- strong physically and I can say it made me feel powerful because of male issues in the past. But that's my stuff

The bottom line is

woman are the weaker less protected vessel

and other than this is the exception rather than the rule

anyway i reckon men should be able to work out together etc. and have an all male gym

maybe what i'm doing is illegal? who knows? might be?

I c your point but I also don't if you know what I mean

womens rights have gone too far in some cases. yep

I relent

enjoy your mens groups

lol

True but if you split it up into two groups and both join each others group then it will be groups and you will have two of the smallest groups ever. No doubt very boring groups but everyone's different!

That's just your cunning way of trying to get me to make you an honourary membership of ours. But alas I can't my dear freind, it has never been done in history because you are of the wrong species. You are a Marsupian and I/ we are the Venusians. Not only are we Venusian chix and chooks but you are a Marsupian rooster. This would not be appropriate now would it?(by the way that's not a question or this banter could go on forever)

see you ol'cok

Grand poobah head chook of coffee club chix and chooks.

Btw I noticed on your profile you fix computers for family and friends. Do you fix family friends and honourary members laptops by any chance? I'm talking $$$ here, venusian $$ (is there a lower case $ on this thing?don't get too excited)

Ah Hello Mr Peter the commoner

Sorry for the late reply but I seem to have lost the fhread to only just find it today when someone else kindly posted on it.

I thought it had been deleted.

Thankyou for your interest in my lappy

it is dead as in defunct deceased and kerfoonkt

alas! it may just be playing dead since it was working quite fine until one day I went to turn it on and it would no longer boot up

It seems to have something to do with the power supply as it was a carrying on in this regard for some time. Sometimes having to be turned on a multitude of times and turnef off again until it would boot. As if it doesn't have enough power going through the power pack or somewhere near the actually computer power supply itself. I don't want to buy a new power pack to test it just in case that isn't the problem.

mmmm what to do?

Can you advise oh commoner Peter ?

at your nearest convenience

thankyou in advance

Hello and Salutations Oh Grand Pooh Bar!

For sure your title is far grander and much more important than our illustrious leader.

That is, our site Captain Glen!

Alas my devilish plan to infiltrate your biased, sexist Coffee Club has been unveiled!

Drats and double drats!

Now pray tell what is wrong with "banter".

This site can use plenty of it. It is so bland. (Sorry Glen).

I can count on two fingers the number of "banter" participants. (Glen and Iblis).

I have tried very unsuccessfully to introduce some useless banter.

Alas the people here (this site) are mainly young people and very staid.

Maybe I am wrong, maybe they are all deaf from listening to modern screaching music/sounds.

So what about your laptop? Has it died or what?

Anyway I fix PCs on a If I can I will basis.

There is no charge. Excepting for any parts that get installed.

There are conditions however:

I guarantee nothing.

I take no responsibility for any data or programs that may get lost or scrambled.

The PC owner must save everything themselves before I take it.

If data is already lost I will try to retrieve it, but no guarantee there either.

Generally a real good cleanup works wonders.

In your case however I cannot see any result cos I am born the wrong gender!

So the meet cannot happen! Alas . . .

BTW I just may vote for Tone cos he is the correct gender!

Who gives a **** about policy any more!

Stay calm oh Grand Pooh Bar it's just a joke Joyce!

Hello JohnB!

First! Are you "The" John Bateman?

Ah wait that was John Batman! Sorry.

Anyway you are famous as that line from a long ago song goes:

"Hoist up the John B sail."

"See how the main sail sets."

"Tell the Captain . . ."

Anyway you will have probably noticed there are heaps of guys new (and otherwise) to Melbourne looking for friendship.

So your idea of pizza beer and poker will attract many customers.

You may run it in conjunction with Kara's coffee and rock climbing day. (To be announced soon).

Somehow I don't think the Grand Pooh Bah (also known as CoffeeClub) will attend. Probably too much testosterone!

Oh Grand Pooh Bah!

May I call you Michelle?

Well I thought you had spat the dummy and was not going to converse with us gentle commoners any more.

About the laptop.

Well I guess it is not new otherwise you would have tried some form of warranty.

Have you checked the battery connections for tightness.

Are the connections clean?

When the power pack is plugged in do you get a "power on" light?

Is it stable?

When you press the start switch do you get an action light for that?

Try to check if the internal fan runs by listening or feeling for breeze at the outlet vents.

If the fan does not run, well it sounds like the fault to be in the power supply somewhere.

Can you put a CD in the optical drive and when you try to start does it spin?

If it spins it maybe possible to put in a rescue disk.

Or do you get nothing on the screen ever? No white writing on black background?

Well next thing to try is Google the brand and model. Ask Google for know faults.

If you can't do that I will try if you tell me the name etc.. Google has fixed many things for me in the past!

Could it be that the power pack has been faulty for a time and now the battery is dead flat?

If you are so inclined you may wish to answer via a PM?

I heard this the other day

It's gonna be really annoying for health nuts one day when laying in hospital dying of nothing!

( actually I'm a bit of a hypocritical health nut commenting like this, I'm a vego myself but I eat fish <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fishie.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fishie:' /> <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fishing.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fishing:' /> and some dairy but only yoghurt, oh and milk in my coffee <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Cuppa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':Cuppa:' /> but generally soy )

Why vegan Mr Vegan?

No quite honestly Peter it is really not a hassle at all. I'm not too strict about it. My partner is but I'm not interested in being over the top about anything like that. But I find heaps of variety to eat that I love everywhere I go. Your desires change so you don't think Oh I can't have this I cant' have that, you more think ewww <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Sick.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> yuk I don't want this I don't want that but I do want this and I do want that <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

get it ?
Well All.

What a pain it must be worrying about "Will I eat this or not or what?".

Just as well you lot were not on the First Fleet!

Or in a desert campaign?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the advice. I will be sure to take it on.

I actually went to an AFL Game last week and i had a ball! great atmosphere and great game <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Would definately like to do it again soon.

Coffee club sounds good to me. Love going for coffee and having a good chat. Will look out for them.

Thanks.

SydneyChick
Hello and welcome.

Strangely enough there is not much AFL or NRL chat on this site.

So I don't think you will get anyone to attend a match with you.

Lesser know stuff like rock climbing seem to get a mention every now and then.

If you delve back a week or three you may find a coffee meet happening.

Others who have been to it may want to help you.

Photography is more popular on this site, and may I suggest you post a few pics of your travels.

That may get some interest.

Don't be impatient Melbournians seem to need a bit of time to thaw out.
