What do you think of my intention to switch from XP to Linux, Iblis?

Rusty, i'm a satisfied Windows 7 user and haven't had a Linux system installed for many many years, back when a lot of frustrating command line and driver conflict resolution problem solving was still required.



If you do decide on a Linux system; i've been told that Ubuntu is popular and user friendly.

From all the hype that I've been reading it appears that Ubuntu are having a few problems and that Slackware is the one to go for.

It is from all accounts the most user friendly distro. and I need all the friends I can get.



There is a local Linux aficionado and Slackware fan in the village that is happy to assist me with the installation.

All I need to do is find the money to buy another 1Gb of ram.



Being a pensioner really sucks.



The good news is that one very kind young computer geek has given me a copy of Xara web designer 6 software.

I am having great fun learning new things even though most things have to be learned 5 or 6 times before they register.

So I have now built my first website.

It isn't much as you can imagine but it has pop-ups and widgets and a working menu bar.

I am so very chuffed even though I cannot export it via email for my kids to see.
