Snow White
#1
Ah well, Snow White sent the Seven Dwarfs off to the mine as usual at 9.00AM.

Nearing lunch time she prepared their various meals and set off for the mine.

On approaching the mine she saw to her horror that there had been a cave in!

Well she called out several times to no avail.

Then after one last call she heard the plaintive cry from deep inside:

"Vote for Kevin Rudd! Vote for Kevin Rudd!"

"Oh thank goodness," exclaimed Snow White, "at least Dopey is still alive!".

Well dear duckie, nice to see we have the same tastes in food. (Never mind, we'll diet tomorrow)

Don't worry too much about the spelling, grammar and so on... (Let me whisper this.... It's overrated. Hee hee)

Oh I do apologise Peter, you are right, as an ex-editor I should encourage strong literacy. Plus I also assisted, as a literacy aid at a primary school in Dallas and ran their library. I should be more responsible... Quite right, you know. Please accept my apologies... Truce? [Image: Money%20Eyes.gif]

Well just a bit of trivia here Peter... Dallas and Broadmeadows tend to take in a lot of new Austalians. Namely the Middle Eastern. So more Aids are needed. Hence the "Literacy" not the "Integration". I worked in the school for 5 years and when I walked into every classroom, I worked for (Usually years 3 - 6), I would play a mental game of "Spot The Aussie." Hahaha. It was all good though. I loved working with children. I only gave up working there because I love my writing more. Speaking of which. I do remember the old Cursive days... Yes... Red line, black line. Ugh!!! Am I showing my age here? [Image: dry.gif]

Yes, I remember English studies in my day. It was good old fashioned literacy. But we learned... We did all our set tasks, or we had to write out lines. (Sometimes in cursive) Detentions consisted of reality. Punishment was just! We learnt the hard way and it worked. Our lives consisted of rules and regulations, from which we followed. Do you know how many times I hear parents complaining that their child makes the same mistakes over and over again? Because they haven't been shown the hard way first, just the easy way. I call this generation coming... The Fingertip Generation. Every thing is a "flick of the switch" or "Press the button" Only one finger is necessary. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Sad really.

I wouldn't have a clue when the coloured lines for the cursive writing disappeared. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> Golly, such a long time ago.

At the school I worked in, they had finacial cutbacks and they had to get rid of either the music program or the librarian. 1 guess who they chose????? This is why me being an aid, was placed in charge of running the library.... At an aid's Salary!!!!<img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> They had cut out library study and only used the room to borrow and return books and of course computers. These days it's not neccesary to spell, read or write. So long as you have social skills that's all they care about. Oh, now I do sound like I am sulking. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Hug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Just to save her from being alone..." hahahaha 80 <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wow' /> anyon over 50 is old enough for me... I don't think I ever got over it... <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

Hi again Peter,

Omg Peter my daughter plays the french horn at school as well. So funny.

Hubby is 3 years younger than me… I don't like to talk about my age, but let's just say I am over 40 and under 45… Ouch, that even hurt to say. Hahaha…

Hey, I do remember Anne Bancroft. Just between you and I, I had this huge crush on Tony Curtis.... drooling….

I'm afraid to say the libraries of today are disgusting with all the noise and so on. I use the Glenroy library a lot as they have a quiet room. I tried The Age library in Broadmeadows… Bla!!! So loud, children running a riot. Foul mouthed teens and men and women on mobiles. (Not Happy Jan!!!)

Peter, you know what I am thinking? My girl is in high school, maybe when they are older, they can play in a big brass band together. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Applause.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Actually I don't mind Neil Diamond... Very catchy songs and great listening. I'll keep it in mind the next time I hear some of his songs. :<img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Batting Eyelashes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':Bat:' />

I thought most of the older libraries had a quiet room. I hope Glenroy doesn't get rid of theirs... I love that room. I seem to do more writing there than at home. Too many distractions.<img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dance.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

You think over 40 is young. Here's a little something that may make you laugh. 5 years ago I had a little issue with my health and it was rather personal... When I walked into the doctors room... The first thing I asked him was.... "What are you? - like 12????" He laughed and told me he may be young, but he was top of his class. I almost felt like giving him a quick course on how to take my temperature.

Hey Peter,

It's scary about knowing your doctor for 30 years... Haha... There's such a turnover of staff at the surgery we go to, our specialist doctors always snap at us when we don't know our local GP's name. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Whistle.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I loved my timestables at school... I wasn't very good at maths, but was fast at my timestables. (Go figure!)

Glen Miller, ha, there's a name I haven't heard for quite some time now. Did you get a chance to watch his story. There's an old movie on his life. I think it was called "The Glen Miller Story." I watched it as a young lass. Golly have almost forgotten about it. May have to re-borrow it. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

My book, well it's all good. The ending was not a shocker, but a reason to want to read more, if you are an imaginative type. Unfortunately I cannot tell you too much, just that it has a lot to do with growing pains in the '70's here in Oz.. There's more, but that would be telling. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

Golly 2 hours at the GP... Hubby hates when he makes an appointment but has to wait 2 hrs. I don't mind it so much, there are some odd looking characters in our area... I can write a whole novel on them. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

In reference to girls doing better than boys, in school, you may be right there. But they are easily distracted with the boys. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yes Grace Kelly was natural beauty, mixed with some make up. Like my mother, she had natural beauty. They did in those days... I put on half a kilo of make up and don't look anywhere near as attractive as my mother did. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Monkey.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':Monkey:' /> .

I had a thing for comedians... Jerry Lewis... I know. Not a Prince charming. But Danny Kaye... At least he was a verbal comedian. He was into ditties and rhymes. Yep, I liked him. I love a good comedian. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacky.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wacky:' />

Old fashioned isn't the word... I love anything old, especially Laurel and Hardy... I took a shiner to the Marx Brothers as well. I fell in love with the slapstick of Harpo. All that curly hair... Woh! Talented as well. I beleive Groucher was the one with best the comical lines... ("Hey, that's no lady, that's my wife!) Some of his many lines I use often. My kids are sick of my one liners. Hahaha.

I love the very old classic movies and especially took well to the Duke. I wasn't keen on westerns, but I made an exception with John Wayne.<img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/im Not Worthy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':notworthy:' />

I even go as far as adore Abbott and Costello... I mean have you ever heard anything better than "Who's on first?" A classic. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The reason I know all the old stuff so well... Well dear sir, that is a long story and a very personal one. However I will tell you that I spent a large amount of time in my youth, being babysat by that famous item called "Television" So as it was my only form of excitement. I made sure I focussed on the late and great. Truth be known. I don't turn the box on anymore, unless my husband or the children want to watch something.

Most of the time the house is filled with music or complete silence when I am writing. This is one reason I don't take well to weekends, the house is too loud, with Tv's, stereos and singing children, from which both of them play an instrument, my girl with her French Horn and my boy with a Trumpet... Grrrr.

Odd about women not undertanding Abbot and Costello's "Who's on First?" It's rather simple really. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

Oh I loved Benny Hill. I remember the fights with my father, who wouldn't allow his little girl to watch the so-called-dirty-old man. I would sneak behind the couch and watch him just the same, of course until I broke out in fits of laughter, then scolded and sent to my room. Hahaha. Cheers was good. Seinfeld was great. I can't even chose a favourite character from that show. I loved them all. I still quote ... "Serenity Now!!!!" Hahaha. Frasier I loved. But I have a thing for English accents and tend to watch any English comedian... Hence Fawlty Towers and the Carry On movies. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

The unisex gyms always put me off... I just workout from home now. The gyms are always busy and I found myself waiting to use a machine. Now I have a tredmil at home. Plenty of DVD's and of course the gorgeous Zumba. I have more drive at home, as I am always worried about who is watching me when I am working out. At home I don't have to worry. The family do their own thing when I am working out and sometimes my girl joins in on the workout.

We lived with a black and white TV, for most of our childhood... If I told the my children they had to watch a black and white movie, they'd look at me as though I was from another planet. Hahaha

You're so funny my own band... Hahaha.

Seinfeld "The Bubble Boy" was fabulous. But I have to admit I love George the Marine Scientist! I told you I can't chose my favourite. As much as I have tried.

Love the Carry On joke. I start laughing just hearing Sid James laugh. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dance.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I've seen your pic on your profile page and you look pretty decent to me... The guys at the gym probably work out all day. I bet if you did it, apart from being extremely tired, you look like Arnold. Hahaha. In reference to the young girl and her tattoos. Well to be honest I would probably stare as well.

Hahaha.

Planet Janet! Never heard of it. I'm a Mars person myself. Firstly I like the name. Secondly, I hear a little rumour it's red and red is my favourite colour. So if it isn't, don't tell me... And ruin my dream. It's my last one. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

No superpowers... And I thought you were Superman, great!

Sax trumpet drums and bass! All sound like a good little thing going there, I should hint it to my kids. It's a little difficult to practice for my son as he is at the junior campus. May have to wait until next year. Mind you usually after band camp they have a whole band bash and we get to see all the work they have put into their weekend away. I'm a music person. (I can't play) I just love to listen and dance. So I really appreciate that eve... It's coming up soon, can't wait.

You make a lot of Batman quotes... Please tell me you are not a Batman fellow. I'm more of a Superman girl myself. Batman never really appealed to me.

When we got married we owed the banks money, we owed my sister money and we were renting. We spent the first 9 months of our marriage working two jobs each and paid everybody off and even managed to save a deposit for a home loan. Now 17 yrs later we aren't rich, but stable and live very tight, just so our kids can get a head start in life. Golly I do hope they appreciate it.

Kramer; dig that crazy hairdo... And Newman, so funny, I start laughing when I see his face. "Hellooooo Newman!" Hahahaha

You crack me up with the Gym challenge. Hahaha. I'd take you up on the challenge, except now that I workout from home, I may have to challenge you, to with a session of Zumba. Hahaha

Yes, I guess men are from Mars... But they'll have to move... I'm taking over, huahahaha.

I have to admit, I haven't heard of Janet Street Porter. I'll check out the quotes.

Peter and Batwoman sitting in a tree, k i s s i n g.... hahahaha... I'll join you, but hope you don't mind if I bring Superman... He was easy on the eye, especially when Christopher Reeves played the role. Phew!!!!

Ok, I've grabbed my cape, so where's the gym shoot out?

I liked cheers, but I can't remember most of the episodes. Though I do remember that one, with Norm.

"Anyway no way with the Zumba! Two reasons:

1. I wanna die with a smile on my face not in agony!

2. If the challenge is at your place, then I gotta select the torture! OK?

3. Maybe an arm wrestle on the ironing board! (Two arms for me and one arm for you! That's fair!)"

Hahaha... Zumba isn't all that bad, there are different levels. Your's truly does the easy mode. (I have energy, not electricity, haha)

If you end up at my place, we won't be arm wrestling on the ironing board, you'd be ironing and I'd be washing dishes. Hahaha.

Lovely pics of Janet Street Porter,

Yes, poor Christoper Reeves.. I believe he had tumbled off a horse and was wheel chair bound for the rest of his days. Sad, really. You're right about Louis Lane, in the Reeve's films.. How annoying was she?

Ok, when you are ready, you bring your zimmer frame to the gym and I'll bring my oxygen mask. Haha.

Zumba really isn't for the young. You just go at your own pace. They even have aqua Zumba now. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I am extremely disappointed in you; not wanting to do my ironing for me. Darn it, I have a mountain of ironing. I should really get on with it I suppose. (Since you won't do!!!!)

Hahaha... Catch you later. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
