New To Melbourne From The Coast
#21
Interesting, I choose it because my stallion at home is named Sparky <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> I've learned many new names for things out here and a few things I'm still guessing at their meaning but most make sense to me such as a torch is a flashlight, but a float is a horse trailer?? Definitely fun to be learning new things out here.
Well, the term float is new to me too. I've actually wanted to go horse riding for a while now but don't know anybody that can recommend a quality place that offers horses that aren't drones fixed to path, like i'd experienced in the past.

Have you seen Equus? ...i hear its a powerful play, although; might be a bit disturbing for an equine enthusiast.

Not quite a day trip but I would suggest visiting the township of Bright.

Hi Guys,

I'd love to be in the coffee catch up too. I'm 30 years old and have moved down from Brisbane with my husband. I'm over the whole clubbing scene but I still love to have fun. I would love to meet some like minded girls as I am getting a little lonley down here.

No I haven't even hear of it I might look into it, but seeing as I work with horses everyday I usually like to spend my time off experiencing new and exciting things, or spending the other times in my bed <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> I can ask around to find someplace if you are truly interested in riding, I'm not sure my boss would allow me to put you up on one of our horses as we deal with young show jumpers who are still developing, but I'm sure there are some clubs in the area that would let you ride, maybe even jump something if you have good enough balance.

I was looking into the Bright Autumn Festival but like you said it seems more of a weekend or longer trip to really enjoy it, but thanks for the suggestion Glen.

Yes, Yes, i'm truly interested. I would've asked you straight up but assumed you worked with horses in the States and not in Australia. I'm moving to Melbourne in about a months time so please don't restrict your search to west end riding ranches. I'm actually more interested in a forest trails rather than show jumping.

Any Melbourne chat regulars want to go horse riding if sparkiegirl identifies a quality riding ranch? (glen, t-pot, kara)?

Hi all, just had a read through this thread - sounds like some awesome new people on here!! it would be really great if we could all get together and meet everyone - i'm in the city for the next 3 saturdays doing a course, and each day it winds up at around 1pm. So if anyone's free/interested perhaps we could meet somewhere for a coffee and a yarn?

Hey so I found a place that sounds like it's just what you are looking for, it's called Uncle Nev's, the website is http://www.unclenevs.com.au/ it's a bit north of Melbourne about 1 hr driving I think but if you want a non-traditional ride through the forest lots of locals have recommended it. Another option near Geelong is Blazing saddles http://www.blazingsaddlestrailrides.com at Aireys Inlet, haven't heard much about this one and looks a little cheesy to me but your choice, also there are a few on the Mornington Peninsula but they are almost 2 hrs. drive from Melbourne so I can look more into them if you want they have mostly beach rides and vineyard rides. So those are the best options I can find so far. My first choice would be Uncle Nev's by far. Hope that helps.

Hey Derric, I'm trying to get down to Melbourne next Fri. night/sat. if I can find a couch to crash on in the city for the night. So if I make it I'll text you Sat. and maybe Teapot and any others that know of anything interesting to do that Saturday we could meet up, I'd be up for anything. Let me know.

Thanks, sparkiegirl.

Uncle Nev's The Great Dividing Ranges day ride does sound like a lot of fun. Great Find‼

Now to find some riding companions, might have to look offline.

I live in Tyaak so take the train down from Broadford. It's about an hr by train which is not bad but the schedules are such that if I go in for a night event I have to wait til 7:30am for the first train back. But no worries looks like I have a place to sleep in town so I'm planning on going down. What are the plans and when do you all want to meet up?

We are heading to The Comics Lounge in Nth Melbourne and then to The Night Cat's Latin/Hip Hop groove. The Comics Lounge must be booked for in advance and requires a 7:30 pm arrival if good seats are to be claimed.

We should organize meet-up details over pm, i don't have a mobile number but maybe you can exchange numbers with kara or t-pot.

I'd love to be a part of that coffee n catch up! I'm 27 and new to Melb myself... not being a clubber, I've been trying to figure out other ways of meeting new people!

If you could include me in the email list, that would be great <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
I've also recently moved to Australia for work and would love to find friends and learn more about the culture here. I'm from America and am heading into Melbourne this Saturday 1st of May to browse some of the various markets around town if anyone would like to join or meet up or suggest some good places please let me know. Thank you.

This looks like a real excuse to have a mass coffee meetup in the city sometime soon! perhaps we could make it the weekend after next! (22/23 May perhaps) Who's up for it?
