What Is This Fruit?
#1
I bought this at WoolWorth. They say it is Mangosteen. But my friends say it isn't.

What on earth is it?

Looks like a mutant fruit not quite like the image on wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Mangosteen

The fruit looks really familiar to me though and not to unusual.

How stupid to call it a mangostein! Yes the others are corect its a custard apple and they are an aquired taste. I love them but they need to be eaten with lemon juice as they are rather sweet if fresh.

Yes, the others are right. It's definitely a custard apple. I don't like them at all but I know some people who think they taste wonderful. I think they're just one of those fruits that you either love or hate.

Mangosteens are totally different. They look like small persimmons only they're a purple brown color.

Yes it is custard apple..a very delicious fruit and has great nutritional benefits. It is rather like custard but without the sugar. Great with yoghurt!!!

Mangosteen is pure heaven but very hard to get here.

I love it and you get it all over Thailand.

Custard apple also has great benefits for diabetes.
