Keeping Fit.
#1
Hello Glen.

Well I know you want to get fit.

And I know you prefer stair climbing.

And I know you lack motivation.

So here is a short article from the Herald Sun the other day and it explains the benifits of stair climbing.

And you may even get a body to match the good looker in the photo![ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

Hey, anyone tried single legged squats or pistols as they call it. I think it utilizes the same muscles plus stabilizing muscles that help you maintain balance. Very good lower body exercise.

I have seen other people do them in the gym. Maybe i will give them a go!

If in case you encounter difficulty doing them, you may want to hold on something like a door frame to assist you with your balance. Another way is to do deck pistols, as you go down with one leg supporting, roll back then roll forward pushing with one leg up, the momentum will give you the strength to pull yourself up single legged squat style.

LOL. I am into bodyweight strength training exercises. Careful in reading this, it would exhaust you even more: one-arm push-ups, one-arm, one leg push-ups, elbow levers, hand-stand push-ups, hand-stands, pseudo-planche push-ups, superman-push-ups, frog hand stands, fore-arm and head stands, etc.

Cycling and skipping rope serves as my cardio work-out.

Can I just pretend to skip?? <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> I mean without the rope. Then I can't fall over!!! hehehehe

Peter, how about i take a pad and pencil on my next trail run along the beach. Not sure about being able to calculate anything but the site of a guy running along quizzically scratching away at a pad might be worth the effort.

To pretend to run upstairs you would use a stair walker machine peter!!! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

The power of positive thinking is good for something... with enough pretend stair walking thought, glen might actually be encouraged to do some real stair walking. :-)

No cream luckily but I am sure it added to my girth anyway!!

The history of the word "lashings" is very interesting. Originally in 1450 BC it was used to mean ropes to hold the boat together, In 600BC it meant to whip someone (aka flogging). In 2010 AD it means "lots of.."

I predict that in 2050AD it will mean surfing the internet furiously. So you could use it as follows:

Fred was lashing the internet all day. He lashed the internet for so long his keyboard broke.

ps I could have made up all that historical stuff! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Whistle.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Whistle.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fishing:' />

I went indoor rock climbing yesterday and now I am completely knackered! My forearms are still aching!

I am too heavy for this kind of thing.....at least at the moment!

Though I did enjoy it.

Maybe it will motivate me to get stronger and lighter!
