DUUUDESSSSS!!!!!

So where can you go for a surf near Melbourne? and i mean within an half an hour of the City Centre? I've goggled this before an cannot find any decent information or surfing spot tips.

Either the surfers can't use computers or are smoking it up(can't say i blame them).

So people of the WWW please help![Image: im%20Not%20Worthy.gif]

Where are the WAAAAAVVVEES maaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn!!!

Nothing outdoor really... that i know of. You will have to drive out west for a couple of hours before you hit decent wave. I know a fellow, a regular surfer that lives out ocean grove way that might know of the best strip of beach to surf closest to Melbourne but like i said, don't like you chances of finding a decent wave inside thirty minutes of Melbourne.

Yep you will need to drive a bit. There are plenty of good surfing websites around. Check these out:

I was always keen on Cat Bay at Phillip Island but it needs a very big swell to get moving. And there are some great white sharks around there so try to not get eaten OK! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':Chicken:' />

Best of luck, Glen

Would love to hear back from you Smiteme if you do find decent surf within 30minutes of Melbourne, but from my own experiences your not really going to find anything even half decent that close. You would be looking at at least an hours drive before finding even a moderate swell if any.

The nearest surf beaches are located south-east of the Melbourne CBD in the back-beaches of Rye, Sorrento and Portsea.
