Need Friends In Western Suburbs
#1
hey there, i have been in melbourne for 4yrs now. i moved here to be with my now husband (whom i met whilst holidaying here 5yrs ago)

i have tried and tried again to make friends but they all turn out to be mental.

i made heaps of mummy friends online but they are all crazy, must have BMS (bored mother syndrome). which i dont understand why cos melbourne is such an interesting place. (especially for singles and teenagers)

i have one male friend, who i happen to "adopt" from my husband =p

but that is about it.

i have tried making friends with mothers at mothers groups and the only thing that we have in common, is the fact that we have kids. "zzzzzzzzz"

so yeah, i need friends. and fast.

ill tell you a little about myself, just so you know what you are up for if you are interested in befriending me.

i am opinionated. i am a pessimist. i like reading about serial killers and books written by Nicholas Sparks.

i like the twilight saga (yes laaaame and juvenile, but hey, we all gotta be a sheep someway)

i like movies like: Pulp Fiction, Fight Club and anything by Judd Appatow (if you dont know who that is, think Step Brothers, Super Bad, Pineapple Express etc)

ummm what else. i have lived in adelaide and perth, i guess you could say i come from adelaide as i was raised there till i was 8, then moved to perth, then here when i was almost 17 then back to adelaide... and then here again 2 months before my 18th =]

i have a warped sense of humour, yes i will laugh if i see someone having a stroke in a movie, but im not twisted, i am sympathetic to people in real life. i feel for people who are ill.

i hate douche bags, stuck up people, skanks, try hards and people who genuinely think they are awesome =p

i have 4 brothers and 1 sister. 3 of my brothers are from the same dad and my other brother and sister have different dads. i do not speak with them. my eldest brother is nice and all but with a 16year age gap, we have nothing to converse about. and my sister... well she is a 36yo child with 8 kids... she must be proud.

i have 2 little munchkins. they are good kids, my son is 3 and my daughter is 6 months. they are my life (very cliche, but true)

i do not get along with victorians, it would seem. as i have different opinions on how a friend should be, to them. which is odd because for me, i give and give in a friendship whereas those i have met just take and take and take and are unreliable, but are nice... hrmmmmmmmmm

Serial Killer books and Nicolas Sparks? LOL, I've read both as well.

I'm not from Victoria, I'm a kiwi, do you really think victorians are harder to befriend?

I'm not in the western suburbs but if you'd like an internet buddy I can at least do that.

haha didnt expect positive replies considering i was so negative. cool =]

yeh you gotta be completely honest about yourself when meeting new people (whether it be for a potential spouse or a friend) because if you start to show the real you and they dont like it

then they are going to be weird about it.

i hate being a fraud and containing myself around people.

(not that i go around saying i hate everything and be all emo, cos i dont)

i guess at the beginning of a friendship/relationship, everyone wears a mask, well not so much of a mask, they just show the good traits about themselves.

if you think about it, noones gonna say "hey im a moody ##### and when we start dating im gonna get real possessive and jealous" cos if one did, then others will run.

but me, i am upfront, i tell people how it is, unless it will hurt their feelings then i either dont say anything, lie or let them down gently =]

im not a bad person and everyone has bad qualities, im just upfront about mine =]

what do you mean "cheap" cinema?

i wanna see Inception, looks awesome. Leonardo Di Caprio is always in awesome movies and hes a good actor.

i wouldnt pay "full price" for a twilight movie. the acting is terrible. books are good though. not greatly written but the story line is nice =]

there are a few cinemas around melbourne that have cheap prices, like $7 or something, I went once in Mt Waverley.

lot's of newsagents now sell hoyts and village vouchers at $12.50 that you take to the box office and exchange for tickets, I never pay full price for movies as always use them or use my MIFF membership (melbourne international film festival) which gives me concession rates at most of the good cinemas (kino, the classic, etc).

Inception is a work of art, I'm gonna see it again when I get the chance.

Hanging out to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the world tommorow.

concession rates are great.

I love Fight Club and Pulp Fiction, anything by Fincher or Tarintino as well. American Psycho is an entertaining movie but the book is the most disturbing thing I ever read (and incredibly well written). Patrick Bateman!! Love his speeches on Whitney Houston and Huey Lewis and the news!
