Democracy Means Different Things To Different People
#1
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy

<p style="color:rgb(37,37,37);font-familyConfusedans-serif;"><b>"Democracy</b>, or <b>democratic government</b>, is "a system of government in which all the people of a state or polity ... are involved in making decisions about its affairs, typically by voting to elect representatives to a parliament or similar assembly," as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary.[1] Democracy is further defined as (aSmile "government by the people; especially : rule of the majority (bSmile " a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections."[2]

<p style="color:rgb(37,37,37);font-familyConfusedans-serif;">According to <a class="" href='https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_scientist' title="Political scientist">political scientist</a> Larry Diamond, it consists of four key elements:

  1. A political system for choosing and replacing the government through free and fair elections.
  2. The active participation of the people, as citizens, in politics and civic life.
  3. Protection of the human rights of all citizens.
  4. A rule of law, in which the laws and procedures apply equally to all citizens.[3]"

Article written by the Leader of the opposition.

Please read it at your leisure.

Clearly Mr Shorten believes that the Australian voting public is incapable of deciding an important issue - what then can we imagine his attitude to general elections is?

His take on democracy is that only the leaders should decide!!!

Now that's what I call a real" Platform for abuse""

Hizb ut-Tahrir: National anthem is ‘forced assimilation’

Australian Muslims should not have to submit to an oppressive campaign of “forced assimilation” such as singing the national anthem or pledging support for democratic values in the citizenship oath, Islamist activist group Hizb ut-Tahrir has told its followers.

Democracy certainly has no meaning for some - happy to accept the handouts and the free speech etc - but don't ask us to be Australians.

Anyone know why the are here?

As far as I am aware this behaviour flies in the face of the very faith they purport to have.

Ergo their faith has little to do with it - at all.
