Hello All.

May I start a new thread?
Anyone may write stuff here.
I called it "I don't believe it" after Victor Meldrew. The star of that old TV show "One Foot in the Grave".
Nothing ever went right for Victor and he often exclaimed "I don't believe it", which became a catch cry throughout Britain.

Anyway here is the first "I Don't Believe it".

This happened in England just recently.
Today's edition of You Couldn't Make It Up comes from Yorkshire, where a farmer has been fined £150 for 'failing to meet the psychological and ethological needs' of a cow.

Personally I think it's over the top - children have been getting smacked by spoons and worse for decades. This topic has only received such publicity as schools have mandatory child abuse rulings.

Or was this thread only for the insanely ridiculous??

I think the whole wooden spoon debate is ridiculous anyway.
I believe Victor Meldrew would have exclaimed as usual when he read about it!
My sister or I never got the wooden spoon, we qualified for the strap.
Oh and the worst strappings I had were at school from the good nuns and brothers! Yikes I can still feel them!

Iblis I don't recall my mother ever hitting me, spoon or not.
I copped everything from my dad. Always deserved!

Anyway I don't believe this:
A guy in England wants to be the worlds fattest person. He is presently 70 Stone. (Approx. 445 Kgms I think?)

More proof of identity madness. Andree Evans, from South Mimms, Herts, bought a birthday card from Marks & Sparks.
As she went to pay, the till beeped. The assistant looked at Andree and said: 'That's OK, you're over 25' and put the card in a bag.
When Andree asked what was going on, the assistant said that she wasn't allowed to sell the card to anyone under 25.
Why? On the front were three small pictures - one of a wine glass, a second of a corkscrew and the third of five bottles of wine and an empty glass.

Elsewhere, in Wisbech, Cambs, a 15-year-old boy was chased down the street by a shop assistant who then confiscated a packet of wine gums he had just bought.
He was told you have to be over 18 to buy anything containing alcohol.
For the record, wine gums don't contain alcohol. And neither do birthday cards.

We generally don't think of a hearse as a great platform for customizing, but then again, we've never known Galpin Auto Sports to shy away from messing with anything on four wheels. That's why we weren't surprised to see this specially-built conveyance of corpses constructed by the Southern California customizer. The hearse features a Halloween theme including dozens of hand-painted skulls on the front and side, as well as a spiderweb grille. It's not all spooky, though, and Galpin has made the interior an inviting place to be, with a working barbeque, chilled cooler, and a flatscreen TV all in the coffin. Not a bad place to spend your last few hours above ground!

How bad is it?
What part of your back?
How are you managing the injury? Physio or .....

yea, moving into the teaching field hopefully, less lifting!

it happened at work, a lower back injury from lifting patients. It's a disk bulge which is bad enough for me and if i lift anymore it's quite likely to prolapse and require surgery. Osteo and more recently chiro which claims to be able to fix the problem more or less - which'd be lovely!!

How are you going to "just switch" professions?

Good luck with the Flexion Distractions. It sounds like a good option and relatively safe.
I am not a fan of Chiro people, I much more prefer Physios.

It's a wonder that your previous employer did not help you heal seeing that it was a work related injury.
And one would imagine it is a common injury in Ambo Land!
What did they say to you?
