Hi all,
I have been through the forums and read quite alot about moving to Melbourne from overseas and some about moving from Sydney etc but these have concerned families. I am looking for some help/info/advice for a single guy moving from Adelaide to Melbourne. I don't really know anyone in the city that I would call a good friend so I am hoping this forum will be able to offer some kind of assistance!
Basically I will be moving over in March 2011, with no job lined up and no accommodation. I am wanting to look for a share place/single bedroom unit near the CBD but nothing too expensive (wishful thinking). I like the idea of Carlton and those areas just outside the CBD. What would be best for me in terms of finding accommodation ASAP or even before I arrive and also any good temp/contracting agencies in the city to help with finding work? I also won't have a car.
Hope this made sense and hope someone can share their experiences??
Thanks

Sounds like a bit of research is need there fella. I'm moving to melbs from London and can't wait!!! really excited.
I'm such a geek i have set up a map on Google and marked all the places i'm interested in. I'd recommend that if your a bit geeky
Here is the info i have found i hope it's useful
http://www.realestate.com.au/rent
http://melbourne.gumtree.com.au/
good fro share accommodation.
i hear brunwcik is cool and close loads of Tram lines i hear. You can aslo ride a bike or do this new bike scheme like they have over here in London
http://www.melbournebikeshare.com.au/
$50 bucks a year sweeeettttt! or buy a cheepo off the gumtree.
If i were you i'd give it a go for six months to a year if you hate it your only up the road at the end of the day.
As Daryl Summer used to say
"if you never never go..............................
Party on Wayne!!!!

Thanks Glen.
I am generally in the Administrative/Project Officer area. I am not too worried about work as I am planning on registering with agencies when I arrive to find work as soon as I can.
I guess I can't really get much done until closer to the moving date. I want to try and get a room before I arrive so I can at least set my self up before I head out looking for work. I will check out the usuals (realestate.com, domain etc) a month or so leading up.
I guess if anyone out there has made the move before from another state I would be interested in hearing about your experience/story?
Cheers
