Just saying hi, I've lived in Melbourne pretty much my whole life, just want to connect a little, I'm feeling the community spirit =)
Um, a little about me.. I work as an ambo, drive a subaru and love to talk about anything!
Hope to get to know you all a little,
Cheers

Welcome to Melb Chat.
I am relatively new here as well, so far I have not had much luck at "connecting".
Maybe you will have more luck.
Anyway being an Ambo sounds like an exciting life.
I don't fancy being an Ambo on night shift in the city!
My guess is that you are young (mid 30s) and fit and possibly male!
Me, I'm old, medium fit and male.
I have been trying to get some banter going but so far no luck.
As for driving a Subaru, well we all have or crosses to bare. (Just a joke Joyce).
My cross is a 6 year old Pulsar.
Best wishes.

Hey I'm suitably Imprezed!
Many moons ago when living on planet Janet I too owned a Sub. Way before they were well known (1982).
You probably never heard of it.
A Subaru Leone. Not rotary.
It was like my present Pulsar, reliable unexciting transport, incapable of pulling your hat off.
As for driving one happily, I may say more content that in fact I can (have one car to) drive at all.
Best wishes.

My vehicular tastes have only shifted toward a Subaru since their shape has changed quite dramatically.
A Subaru's all wheel drive is a very pleasant experience and being able to brag about having a Boxer engine is quite ego stroking too.
The badge is also nice, even though not technically the southern cross, the badge appears to be our national symbol to those not so esoterically minded.

You are correct Peter, I have never heard of a Subaru Leone.

Well what do you know? The Sub still has a Boxer engine. So did the Leone!
It was great for servicing as the starter and alternator were both up the top not buried as was normal.
But "Ego stroking"? Yikes! No way Jose! There was no point in explaining to anyone that it had a "Boxer" engine as all you would get was: "Huh!" (Read Doh! These days).
In those days anyone owning a non Falcon or Commodore were laughed at. Not macho at all ever!
Somehow I don't think the ###### had Southern Cross in mind? Or .........
Best wishes.

The bu**lldu**st word filter is nuts.
I hate it.
All I said was Gaps but with a J instead of G!
Yikes! What's wrong with that?
If I say Aussie instead of Australians, that's the same thing to me!
I defy anyone to be really offended by it!
End of story. No reply needed please.
Best wishes.

My Leone was new in 82!
Not a rotary, or 4 wheel drive.
I don't remember about a turbo option. Probably was.
before that I had a Mazda Capella.
Yikes more (J)ap stuff!
In 92 I bought our first Nissan Pulsar.
Yeah it was (J)ap as well, except it was made in (A)us.
Best wishes.

Being an ambo is great, something new every day.. excellent for my tiny attention span - but i'm a little afraid of working nights in the inner city also, i stay safe in my south-eastern suburbs =). And i'm young (early 20's), fit and female =)
thanks for all the replies and welcomes guys
cheers!

I bought mine December last year, a brand new RX sedan with tailpipe covers and floor mats, such brilliant cars.
My fantasy car at the minute is a WRX sedan only 'cause the STi does not come in a sedan... how much would you just love to own an STi?

Yeah, the segway manoeuvre is certainly top notch!!
Nope, no driving course either... though a few adrenaline rally courses have caught my eye in the past, particularly...

...but I always manage to talk myself out of taking part.

You have hijacked back the thread I hijacked from you!
You can't do that!
Cheeky woman you have only been here 5 minutes! Yikes!
Back to the kitchen!
That's where Tea Pots live, right?
Just a joke Joyce.
Anyway I got the bit about you being fit right. One outta three not too good.
Anyway you (A)mbos must get paid too much buying flash new Subs?
Anyway what if I keel over on your patch will you give me the kiss of life? Yes?
I promise not to put up a fight!
Anyway (A)mbos are going to strike soon, will you?
I just heard on the news that some guy said that during the strike the public won't be affected?
Huh! What does that mean?
(A)mbos don't count? Yikes!
OK your shot. Fire away .......
Best wishes.

I forgot!
I hope the name of your car is not an omen?
You know "RS".
I don't need to tell you what it stands for!
Thanks for the tip about support groups for us poor Pulsar owners.
I've been to a couple of meetings, normally strong guys sit around sipping TEA and weeping a lot!
You think Pulsar is a bad car name, well I got news for you.
Try Tiida!
What a stupid ******* name.
Nissan is wacky if they think any (A)ussie would buy a car with that name.
Anyway so how do you keep fit?
Go to a Gym a couple of times a week?
Run a half marathon every weekend?
Maybe wrestle 100KG guys for a laugh?
Best wishes.

not in my job description!
and to keep fit, i tend to pull b-double trucks around behind me where-ever i go, you'd be amazed how many calories that burns.

yes, this is very true.
i'm considering calling up the dealership and making sure i wasn't jibbed on that course, it sounds good!
oh wow that rally course looks much better than the one i was considering - just on a normal track but your choice of STi, v8 holden or evo..
this one looks great!
i did a defensive driving course - it was really boring, and u use your own car so any damage to it and its on you.. i imagine those rally cars get damaged quite often.
