Darn, and I was picturing you tapping away at an i Phone or some such as you investigated the nooks and crannies of the South Yarra back alleys accompanied by a sinister look of suspicion.
EDIT: ? how the heck is using the single whole word `i Phone` get converted to ## SPAMMER ## ?

The spammer thing results when people type in certain phrases. I know it seems a bit over the top by when ever that phrase "i phon e" is used, it is almost always by a stupid spammer that is trying to sell "i ph ones".
I have banned lots of other words like "n ike" and other famous brands. This discourages the spammers and makes my life a little easier.

I also usually ban links to spammer sites so once they visit they don't normally bother coming back. Most of the time they just are after a link to the site. That is partly Google's fault because if a website has lots of links to it, then Google considers the site to be important/valuable and they get more visitors (via the Google search engine) as a result.

they are a bit secretive exactly how they rank websites. but they apparently take into acount the number of links pointing to a particular site.
I am pretty sure they also take into account how many people visit a particular site. They gather that data from people who install the google toolbar.
