Camera Obscura

I wonder if any of the older members here have any memories of this. I know there was one years ago at Arthurs Seat! I presume its gone but I remember it as a child.

The best way to explain it to younger readers was that it was a dark room you entered and a mirror was projected (I think) and you could see the scene outside. We thought it was a true marvel. I doubt it exists today.

Pity about the wondrous things we have lost.

I wonder if there are any left?

I also loved the chair lift. I have heard it might come back or is that wishful thinking..

We definitely had one when I was a kid. They would be pretty lame I guess today.

Great to hear about the chair lift. I felt sorry for the guy who put so much investment into it. There were only three accidents and from what I hear they were not the fault of the company.

It looks like the Edinburgh Camera Obscura is still well and truly in business. I didn't see it when I was there (I think the building might have been closed at the time for renovations though). I've been having a look at their website and it looks pretty interesting. I'll have to make sure I see it next time.........
