for you perhaps, but the other two blokes, the one on the left and the one on the right outnumber you

Ooooooooooooooh - what if we are standing in parallel lines and the centre line is longer?

The Cairns Ebola case coverage is enough to place doubt on all media analysis and commentary!

Yep I agree that was so poorly handled it couldn't even be considered a joke. Two Quacks stood down from what I've heard. First of all I thought medical conditions of patients was supposed to be private? But even worse, this woman has her face on every paper and on TV over a virus she doesn't even have. That's enough to humiliate anyone and I hope she sues their asses off.

If that wasn't a media beat up I don't know what is.

It's a fear driving exercise that I guess can fool the uncritical non skeptics about, but every time it happens - daily - the less gullible become more skeptical .

That's a good thing!

Caution is fine and dandy but facts are better!

Quote:Hi Aloy . . .

That's right.

But until all the facts are in . . . Be cautious!

That's maybe the point: the press shows no caution, they had an Ebola outbreak here when it was merely a cold!

Quote:Whilst I may admit there was a stuff up, I doubt that the media decided it was ebola!

Are the media health experts now?

Someone must have passed wrong information to the media.

I cannot imagine the media deciding "Ah stuff it, let's turn a cold into ebola!".

My goodness you have a great deal more faith in the integrity of the "media" than I do

"Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their bones;

So let it be with Caesar."

Is this what you were trying to say?

So Shakespeare got bit all wrong what he should have said was:

The good that men do lives after them;

The evil is oft interred with their bones;?

But anyway back to Gough - the ABC reported an interview with an 18 year old young woman who said:

"Gough Whitlam gave women the vote"

She can be forgiven for regurgitating crap - fed to her by someone else but Oh deary me What is Our ABC doing?

Effectively they are continuing to propogate untruths

Just imagine if they had been talking about Joe Hockey!! :Cry:

Goodness me, someone else notices!,

Good reporting wrapped up in leftist commentary that frequently is presented as "news"

It's all a bit dishonest and treats the news consumer with disrespect.

Quote:Did not the present gov reduce ABC funds by 1%?

That of course means 1% less balanced reporting.

Wrong - it means 1% less unbalanced commentary and gratuitous opinion

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm the ABC gets to gain a reduction in funding - lets see if economic reality really does drive behaviour - unlikely given the ALp and ABC belief in entitlement.

But the cracks are appearing - Leigh Sales apparently does not share the blatant anti-Abbott rubbish that passes for informed comment from the ABC hierachy, maybe balance is yet possible?

Who knows maybe integrity and unbiased commentary will make a come back in the hallowed halls of the ABC?

- but don't hold your breath - culture change is not a fast moving process.

Bill Shorten can’t win despite Abbott’s low popularity, says Rod Cameron

FORMER Labor pollster Rod Cameron, a veteran of more than 50 election campaigns, says Tony Abbott’s low popularity will not stop him winning re-election and Bill Shorten will never be prime minister.

Mr Cameron, Labor’s chief pollster from 1972 to 1990, said the challenge for the Prime Minister was not so much to reverse his unpopularity as to build credibility and respect — Labor was “still a rabble” and its poll lead over the Coalition was illusionary.
