History Does It Really Repeat?
#1
Is it just me or are there really overtones of the rise of German nationalism in the current state of Turkey?

It looks pretty damned scary to me that people think they are supporting a democracy that is helter skelter descending into dictatorship.

They want to turn a once wonderfully democratic country with diverse ideas into an Islamic state. They wil stuff it up and once tourism is dead Turkey is FU**ED

The best information I have is that Erdogan is only using the Muslim faith as a tool.

What he is really about is personal and family power.

Why else sack judges and teachers?

Turkey is about 98% muslim, but when I have been there you could find as many Christian books as Muslim books on sale in major book stores.

He has either planned very well for this  situation or there will be a really major backlash.

A state of emergency voids many of the Turkish secular constitutions powers put in place by the founder of the republick - Kemal Ataturk - still viewed as a god like person by Turks.

The sooner this guy is challenged the less catastrophic it will be.

Our news media's initial response that "democratic power has defeated an army coup" looks a bit lame now given the trashing of the democratic parliament by Erdogan.

In Malaysia if you live there you must acept that Islam is the so called natural faith of that country. Its sad as it is a secular country but not if the current regime have their way, Cant find a toilet at times in KL but you sure as can be can always find a bloody prayer room.

Turkey under islamic law will be the end of a once great country.

THe place is a mess.

If it becomes an Islamic state it will most certainly be an economic turkey. A well stuffed one at that.
