Safe Places To Live In Melbourne

Basically I've just moved from Country Victoria to Melbourne for my career.



I need to know some areas that would be safe for a female to live alone and still be able to venture outside at night and take public transport.



I am currently looking around Pascoe Vale, Coburg, Essendon, Moonee Ponds areas.



But I am also seeing some very nice properties in Maidstone which have a very reasonable rental price on them, but have been told that its possibly to not safest area, is this true?



I need some help and any would be greatly appreciated!!!!

sorry i do not know of any safe or unsafe areas except where i live in mill park being safe, sorry :/ oh, keep away from heidelberg area though i hear that is bad.

it's basically personal preference...



some places maybe sound bad but in the end, aint that bad after all... I used to live in Frankston... thought it was full of druggos and that, but every time I went down the street, hardly anyone hang around the train station, etc..
