I frequently travel to Mildura and outer regions. I was saddened by my last trip. I never seen it quite like this and its getting worse. The river Murray is dying. People who say rivers don't die are fools.
The Greens on this issue have got it right.
Why oh why are we growing cotton and rice etc in a desert?
I am all for supporting the citrus industry but wine is hardly an essential service and its an industry which does not support or engage much labour.
Glen will soon throw his line in the river and be lucky to catch a sad old carp in the mud.
It breaks my heart.

Yes that's great Glen but there are sections of the river that are in peril. Of course if the Greens have their way the river will improve greatly. As I said even the Greens have no problem with sensible irrigation but the waste is horrific.
Thrilled the Murray cod id making a bit of a come back. I think its over fished by commercial outlets though.

Thanks for discussion Glen. It is refreshing to see a young person caring about the environment. The greedy farmers (not all Aussie companies either) will do anything to continue the abuse.
I actually believe that citrus fruits deserve protection, I simply question the obscene waste. There are many lies being told. I know there are Green ###### around but this time the Green policy is totally correct.

Glen you are great! Yes I have this and also a bit more. I like to back my arguments up.
When one really studies the information the picture becomes really troublesome. Don't worry I believe most Aussies will defend the rivers despite the red necks.

I like the what the OCCUPY kids are saying but they are not saying it well and the organization is poor. THey need good leadership.
I used to have coffee with Jim Cairns, now there was a man of charm and intellect. Far too nice for politics!

Poor Junie ...very intelligent.
Peter you would have loved Uncle Jim. He was a man of great compassion. You might not have agreed with is idealism but he had a warm beautiful heart. He used to sell his books at the market after politics and some felt sorry for him but actually he loved it.
Even his political foes adored him.
He and Jim Killen (yes a Lib) were charming.
Of course Gough was simply brilliant. I could speak all night about Gough. I adored him.
Oh Peter you bring up lovely memories.
