Stamp Duty Abolished For Property Under $600K
#1
After July, stamp duty will be abolished for first home buyers purchasing a property valued below $600,000, the Victorian Government says.

From July discounts will also be available for property purchases between $600,000 and $750,000 on a sliding scale, regardless of whether they are new or established homes.

Other changes are a new tax of 1% on unoccupied houses.

Pros and Cons of the above are covered in this article > http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-03-05/st...ia/8325970

Pity its not given to seniors buying a second home. WE were lucky last time and sd wa waved but bought a place we hated. Now found a much better home but doubtful we will get it again.

Be careful of down sizing.
