Moomba Waterfest will return to the city stage with a splash in March 2007! Get set for the showdown of flying birdmen, water sport activities and celebrity challenges on the Yarra.



Moomba Waterfest will be held over the Labour Day long weekend, from 9 to 12 March 2007.



All-time family favourites will be a feast for the senses as the carnival rides move in to Birrarung Marr and the Moomba Parade transforms Swanston Street into a sea of colour and excitement.

i am a bit over the whole moomba thing but i guess its fun for the kiddies. water skiing was alright.

Birdman Rally

Call for entries

The City of Melbourne is pleased to announce that entries for the 2007 Birdman Rally are open. Applications close Friday, 1 December 2006.



The event is once again set to be a highlight attraction during the four-day Moomba Waterfest calendar as Melbourne’s adrenalin seekers launch themselves into the Yarra River using self-constructed flying contraptions.



Entries over the years have ranged from space crafts to hang gliders and bicycle-type contraptions. The very determined have dressed in costumes such as giant pigs and chickens!



In 2007, all participants are required to raise a minimum of $200 to donate to a charity of their choice. Similar to 2005, prizes will be awarded for the longest distance of flight and the wackiest and most inventive contestants.



The 2007 application process will be assessed on a first come, first serve basis. Places are limited so be quick!
