Santa calling all kids to send mail

Santa calling all kids to send mail

Kids love to write to Santa at this time of year and many countries including the USA, Canada and Australia provide special postal deliveries to the North Pole. Some allow email while others require a letter.

AUSTRALIA - In Australia, kids can write to Santa at the following address:

Santa North Pole 9999

Aussie kids will get a response in the form of a personalised letter or postcard from Santa himself, provided their letters are stamped and addressed correctly (including a correct return address on the back)! Children are being urged to start sending their lists and letters to the North Pole as soon as possible, with Christmas now little more than a month away! Australian children sent over 100,000 letters to Santa last year. Australia Post have promised to donate 10 cents to charity for each correctly addressed letter.

CANADA - In Canada kids have the choice of either emailing or writing to Santa. Letters should be addressed to:

SANTA CLAUS NORTH POLE HOH OHO CANADA

More than one million children write to Santa at his 'NORTH POLE H0H 0H0' address each year. Each letter that includes a return address receives a reply from Santa. Approximately 11,000 Postal Elves volunteer to help Santa with his mail. Letters are answered in English, French, and more than 20 other languages, as well as Braille. E-mail is answered in English or French. Teachers are urged to send their classroom letters by December 4th.

USA - The United States Postal Service (USPS) also provide a mail service direct to Santa. US kiddies should send their letters and lists to:

SANTA 123 MAIN STREET NORTH POLE, NY 12946

The USPS ask that letters to Santa have a complete return address and that no extra packaging material (e.g. string or tape) be included. While Santa himself receives most of his letters, some are sent to charitable organizations and volunteers who help make a child's holiday wishes come true. Letters to Santa are handled by each local Post Office, so policies may vary from city to city.
