One Wiggle quits

The Wiggles are expected to announce that their Yellow member, Greg Page, will quit the successful child pop group, according to various website reports.

The Wiggles have scheduled a press conference in Perth tomorrow, ahead of their latest Australian tour.

The Wiggles have been touring the USA with a Wiggle replacement for the past month, after it was revealed that Greg Page was suffering from an unknown illness that caused fainting spells. The managers of the Wiggles have said that his condition is still not properly diagnosed.

Mr Page was thought to be seeking treatment so that he could join up with the Wiggles again at a later time but it seems that his condition has not sufficiently improved.

That is just terrible!!!! My kids LOVE The Wiggles. Infact when my son was little the ONLY way we could get him to go to sleep was to put on Wiggle Time. The songs are awsome, and it is all based on such a kid friendly level, it was easy for anyone to get into it! Even now i still catch myself singing along to the songs when my kids are watching...."Here comes a bear <stomping stomping> a vry scary bear....." Greg, we are all praying for you in hopes that you will conquer this illness. What will come of The Wiggles without our beloved Yellow Wiggle? Hang in there!!!! You've got ALOT of children <and some parents> wishing you a speedy recovery!!!! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />Smile<img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Quote:Page says he's suffering from a chronic condition called orthostatic intolerance.

The condition means when he stands up his heart doesn't pump enough blood around his body.

The 34-year-old says it's not a life-threatening condition but is permanent and he can't sing and dance the way he wants.

here is some info from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthostatic_intolerance

Quote:Orthostatic intolerance is the failure of the body to properly adjust to an upright position, especially with respect to blood flow, heart rate, and blood pressure.

A common manifestation of chronic orthostatic intolerance is postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.

and here is some information from a US government site:

Quote:Orthostatic intolerance is a syndrome characterized by adrenergic symptoms that occur when an upright posture is assumed: the heart rate increases by at least 30 beats per minute, without orthostatic hypotension (Jacob et al., 1997). Most patients with orthostatic intolerance are women between the ages of 20 and 50 years (Low et al., 1995). This syndrome, first described by Da Costa (1871), has been called soldiers heart (Fraser and Wilson, 1918), neurocirculatory asthenia (Wooley, 1976), and mitral valve prolapse syndrome (Boudoulas et al., 1980). It is similar in many respects to chronic fatigue syndrome (Schondorf and Freeman, 1999).
